FFXIV twitter is embarrassing. Still can't believe people post porn for their characters and pretend to be OnlyFans models -.-

Players have the right to be unhappy with the game. Telling them leave is also not the best solution depending on their issue. Yes complaints get annoying, mostly the trolling ones. But a lot just want the game improved in one or another.

lol when they get mad at someone else for having the same character model/mods with balloon boobs/NSFW as well and go on a twitlonger tour over it. “My hard work, I’m so upset please donate to my kofi/gofundme. I’m so hurt by this.”

This is why I can’t take anything on twitter/discord servers serious within this community ever

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

Yes. I want the game improved, too. I've wanted that for years. But SE is not listening. We've yelled into the void for years and heard only silence in return. I was suggesting leaving because at this point it's the only thing that can bring about change. Complaining isn't changing anything because SE does not seem to care. If enough players unsubbed at once, it would get SE's attention. And if you don't think it would, then surely you can admit complaints haven't been doing anything either? Why continue to play a game where the devs don't listen to a word you say and keep taking it in the opposite direction from what players seem to want? I'm not commanding anyone here to unsub. But isn't it evident by now that complaints alone aren't working?

The issue is that "improvement" is often a very subjective thing. What one person considers an "improvement" could be a complete turn-off for someone else. When your "complaints" basically become hating the very core of the game and demanding changes so extreme that they would likely push away many more people in an attempt to please "you," it says the game and you just don't mesh anymore, and that's okay. It's comments like these:

I'm well aware sloppy ****** design is popular. It's why Squeenix is pursuing it. Unsubbing has zero impact. This game took money from people who enjoy video games so they could give us 2-3 expansions of an enjoyable video game and then bait-n-switched us with a game designed for lazy ERP Limsa AFKers. I still play for friends. This game's combat design is awful.
This is utterly condescending, egocentric, and at its core, immature. "Good game design can only mean exactly what *I* like, and if you like something else, then you're awful." That's not helpful. It reveals more about the poster than anything about the game.

I guess I have to admit that non-gameplay things are actually important in an MMO. Part of the reason it's hard to leave XIV is that the world design is so much better than other games. It would be easier for them to add interesting activities here than for other games to completely remake their worlds into places people care about. XIV is the most pretty social/ERP hub.

This game's interface for gamepad/ console players is also a million miles better than any other MMO. Cross hotbar is the only way to have immediate direct access to dozens of abilities, emotes, menus, macros, etc but no other game does it. They've had 10 years to copy but still they have controller layouts that are gimped in some way, and HUDs that can't be customised as much as XIV.

So there's some praise I seldom give these days. FF XIV is the #1 online game for world building, art design, interface, QoL features, music. There are enough reasons for me to stay and care enough to bother complaining about the gameplay, repetitive content loop. It feels like at least 80% of the dev effort is consumed by iterating old content types that have been done a hundred times before. Designing expansions to fit inside an old template is such a waste of their talent.

The thing posters like you always miss is we are basically just asking for square to admit that the design some of the veterans miss from 2-4.0 actually existed and it is possible to create content with that design philosophy in mind while still catering to modern players

We aren’t asking for to make 14 something it’s not, we are asking for shades of the game we miss back after square abandoned us to appeal to a player base that by and large doesn’t interact with more of the genres deeper systems so it brings the experience down for all of us, an example would be job design a high skill ceiling and a low skill floor was not a bad thing for casuals, a skill ceiling that is it’s skill floor is bad for veterans

This game as a whole was so much worse designed back then, this is why nobody takes you crackpots seriously.
