Biggest turn off for most ppl with hrothgar is the hunch I think. If they added a straightback option akin to Orcs in wow, I think they would be more popular.
Curious to see how females will be in that regard
My issue is that they're not even that large. Bulky sure, but them being so hunched and the lack of more beastial limbs and making them look more human makes their design feel gimped. I don't understand why they didn't just copy the existing Ronso design from FFX since that's what they're supposed to be based off of.Hrothgar was added in response to players saying they wanted a beast like race to play. Hence why it's so large and bulky.
Which makes me wonder... If we flood the boards for years asking for a cute furry race, will be finally get a tiny race alternative that isn't a demonic potato with teeth?
They should be much taller, have digigrade limbs and also have body options for bulky and athletic builds.
(Also could help if all but 1 of their face types didn't look so derpy)
Saving cost, mostly. By taking a slightly modified Roegadyn's skeleton they don't have to put as much effort into it making gear work for it (...SOME of the gear), and the midlander skeleton would have had the opposite effect of having them look too small. My issue is that they're not even that large. Sometimes I wish they weren't so focused on efficiency, but this is expected from game built on averting the 2k polygons plant from 1.0.

They were released as "finished" though. They were never supposed to receive what everyone else had. It's only now that they have started relenting on the stance, by having femhroth on the way, and hairs.
However, one stance on this thread is body customization, as far as I can tell. Like changing proportions, which isn't really a thing - on ANY race. At best, there is Hyur midlander - highlander, and those are quite different from each other. A smaller hrothgar is effectively a new race, in terms of development cost. Not that I am trying to defend SE for the choices that were made in the creation of hrothgar, but an overhaul would likely have to be made to their entire creator to even make different body proportions/sizes a thing.

The level of passion to the Miqo'te race's animation and customization versus other races (outside of maybe lalafells) is so jarring... People assume players just 'like nekos/catgirls/boys' but these small details have been brought up by players on reddit and the forums constantly.
THIS is why the stupid arguments "BuT iT mAkeS the RaCes UniQUE" defending the weird proportions of Elezen, the Hrothgar hunchback, the male Au'ra running animation, the Hyur roboticism, Highlander lack of eyebrows don't work. You can design races to look distinct without intentionally adding some undesirable quirk. And this is why Miqo'te will always be a majority.
I love being a hroth.. my biggest complaints are the hunch, the lack of headgear and that we don't have a dental plan.. some teeth whitening options would be lovely!!!

Agreed, that was the dealbreaker for me when I tried them out. The amount of hunch they have when just standing around is fine, but when running they hunch to almost a 90 degree angle. I couldn't even see my own head over the hunch.

I personally dont find the hunch to be a big deal.
But I do hope the Females dont have it.
