More Alisaie and Alphinaud yayyy

Tbh i like the twins however i wish the next expansion would reduce the cast of Scions that are joining us to make room for newer characters

Also ngl i was expecting the Twins to finally grow up but i guess they are just going to be stuck as 16-17 year olds constantly

I'd have to admit that I was mildly disappointed to see the Scions in the trailer. I actually preferred the way things were in 6.x, where they were making - for lack of a better term - cameo appearances to help us solve a problem within their individual areas of expertise.

And with that in mind, I don't really understand why they're following/accompanying (not clear on which) the Warrior of Light to the New World. I mean, my personal hope for how things would've played out for them:
- The Twins: Remain in Garlemald offerring support. The situation there really didn't seem overly stable.
- Y'Waifu: Assuming a method of travelling to the First is established, I'd have preferred her to decide to remain there with the Night's Blessed
- Estinien: Remain to support Vrtra and (assuming she survives 6.5) Azdaja, considering what they'll have been through
- G'raha: Difficult one, due to the promise made to him - although we did take him along to the realm of the gods, therefore arguable that we didn't keep our promise
Difficult to comment on Thancred and Urianger as they didn't really seem to have a great deal of direction at the end of 6.0 anyway

Point is, in all of these cases it isn't clear why they've all decided to develop an 'Adventurer complex' (not something they really demonstrated before) and decided to go running off to the New World, abandoning what they were doing beforehand. Whilst the story may (or may not) provide a motive for them to do so, it does feel a bit much.

Anyway, whilst I don't particuarly want to see any of them die as such (as not a fan of killing characters for the sake of it), I do feel that they didn't need to remain front-and-centre and I do hope that their presence doesn't mean we lose the opportunity of meeting more diverse characters to accompany 'us' in the New World.

i have to say. of all the characters.... erenville really feels refreshing. even though i dont love him us much as others seem to.
i like the others but at some point its enough. most of them had their developement and it would have been the perfect moment to split with some of them.... later reappearances in other expansions would be great (but thats not really possible if they are always around us anyway)

This is what a lot of people thought would happen prior to the Void arc, and where anyone with the vaguest inclination towards telling a good story would go, but priorities have changed at SE HQ and as a result we've got what we've got. It doesn't make much sense from a narrative perspective, but it does from a marketing one.

Am I the only one who legitimately likes the twins? I love their dynamic. Even though I slightly prefer Alisae.

I adored the twins. At one point, nigh on everyone loved the twins. Alphinaud was my boy during HW. I doubt you will find anyone here who didn't love them or at least some of the Scions at some time or another. But 9 years is a long time, and at the end of the day, they are video game characters, not real people, and I challenge you to find anyone who would find playing the same game with the same basic characters and the same basic dynamics anything other than frustrating after that long.

I'll explain it for you, because you seem to have trouble grasping concepts like this often enough so I believe your confusion and sense of loss is legitimate now.

Valkyrie_Lenneth tried to deflect a complaint that originated from an opinion from AlexiaD by saying that AlexiaD spends their time hanging out at venues and that this development should not matter to them. This statement implies that AlexiaD only hangs out at venues and does not do anything else in Final Fantasy XIV, and it is also implies that Valkyrie_Lenneth believes that they should not voice their opinion about something that Valkyrie_Lenneth was not aware of them having any interest in, also implying that Valkyrie_Lenneth believes that no one should have an opinion about anything when Valkyrie_Lenneth is not aware of their interest in that topic.

Valkyrie_Lenneth later responded to AlexiaD's response to say that Valkyrie_Lenneth is not into PVP so Valkyrie_Lenneth would not comment on PVP and would just ignore it. However that implies that Valkyrie_Lenneth then believes that content related to AlexiaD's complaint would be something that could just be ignored, and this also implies that Valkyrie_Lenneth believes that AlexiaD does not like the MSQ or would ignore the MSQ, in which the Scions, including Alisaie and Alphinaud, will appear.

Thus, AlexiaD responded as AlexiaD did, and rightfully so, because Valkyrie_Lenneth's stance is one that implies that AlexiaD should exclude herself from a conversation and possibly from content based upon Valkyrie_Lenneth's perception of AlexiaD's interests.


To summarize, assumptions made an ass out of Valkyrie_Lenneth (as they do with all), and AlexiaD did not appreciate the implications or the assumptions made.

Is that sufficient?



On topic, I... kinda really wish we had the scions just make guest cameos here and there, rather than be involved in the mSQ anymore. Maybe a letter or call or something, here and there? Some advice, maybe?
We need new blood.
I'm actually ok with Alisaie tagging along, because that just means something's going to potentially get murderated, and that's always fun, but Alphinaud is like bringing your 5 year old cousin with you when you go out with your friends to have some fun at a local arcade.
I guess I'm just not, personally, looking forward to being everyone's attack dog, being told what to do by the other Scions, and having things explained to me like I'm the target audience of Dora the Explorer when I already understand the situation, just so fans can have more CG renderings of Graha eating food.
