Dunno... Seems like a whole lot of time and resource investment just to add the 100 or so players on X Box that have heard of Final Fantasy and don't already play it on another platform... :P

Also TBH I hated just about every multiplayer interaction I had with Xbox players. Granted this was from back in the Xbox 360 days and at that time it felt like it was nothing but whiny nerdy little kids trying to pass them selves off as "gangsta". TBH the 360 was probably microsoft's most successful console to date. The following gen of PS4 vs Xbox One ended up not being much of a contest after Microsoft essentially handed Sony an I win button after that whole presentation of how Xbox one would have DRM protection requiring constant internet access. This newest generation of PS5 vs Xbox X/S is still tilted heavily in Sony's favor due to Microsoft's handling of it's exclusives before going on the acquisition spree to buy other big name publishers/studios. Additionally I don't believe Microsoft made a very good impression on the Japanese companies they targeted for buyout attempts which included SE and Nintendo.
I honestly don’t think it’s super likely but it’d be awesome to see. Would definitely bring in decent chunk of new players, especially more Australians ✧◡✧!
And we're not saying that there's going to be an agreement like between SE and Sony so that playing FFXIV doesn't require a Ps+ subscription.

Still Useless... To have so many Commendations in 2024
It's really weird that SE doesn't try harder for an Xbox version. There's a genuine lack of competitors on Xbox the biggest of which is ESO which all the players there seem to openly hate playing as well as the devs. There's money being left on the table.
Xbow has never been as popular in Japan as the domestically-produced PlayStation, and this is not especially surprising considering the strong national pride of the Japanese consumer.
Other then that there is no hurdle to pass to bring it to xbox other time and resources. i think was back in one of the fanfest for shadowbringers or the media tour that Yosh said that they have very busy schedule so there was no time table on when or if thet where going to it but that was like 5 years ago

From what I've read (and also assume) is that FFXIV being subscription-based is one of the main issues. And I expect that Xbox would also want it on GamePass. Which really can't happen. They can't allow folks to not have a sub on one platform and then expect one on the others. Also, the moment FFXIV goes F2P it is over in terms of quality.
"The worst foe lies within the self."
I be honest, idk if they are seriously doing it. I mean the spec is similar as PS5 and yet they are not doing it.
it would certainly be profitable for square-enix,
but given the time they've been talking about it and it's been pushed back each time, I think it's very unlikely that an xbox version will see the light of day,
it adds a monstrous job to optimize the game, especially since xbox has two consoles, the series X and the S,
and FF14 could not be released on the S series without restricting the game from evolving as the ps4 currently does, ps4 will certainly be abolished by 8.0
And then they are working hard on the graphic update, it's an ambitious project and relatively expensive both in terms of resources and price,
it's not impossible, nothing really is, but it's unlikely.
