We don't know much about it. Are they switching to DX12 to gain performance and headroom for higher fidelity? Are they providing a native Mac OS version? Will they leverage DirectStorage to remove/limit loading screens? Will they redo the launcher (and website) so it's actually easy to buy and pay for the game? That's a lot of backend work that takes time and probably was well underway when they first announced it. They can just update a few city and character assets and call it a day.

We should get the first 7.0 news soonish so the hype train or reality check will start then...

If you don't like the game at all, unironically save yourself the money and quit now because at this point this game is irredeemable. There's literally no point in waiting for 7.0 to fix anything. Spoiler: they won't. Only reason to stick to this game is for secondary, non-game purposes.

Let me just spoil the ending for all of you: FF14 is going to start failing, slowly, Square Enix is going to put this on maintenance mode in like 8.0 or 9.0 or something, maybe they'll try to revitalize it but fail.

CBU3 has like literally no idea how to make interesting progression systems, there is not a single exploratory content or horizontal content that succeeded with the entire playerbase. They just don't know how. They also fired some devs and leads who disagreed with the vision of the game (rumor), clearly they're not open to feedback either. So don't huff the copium really, no need to wait for 7.0. It's already over.
I don't know where you get the idea that the game is in such terrible state. The game is doing quite well. Hell you are still subbing. Keep complaining though if you it makes you happy. I don't mind. It keeps my favorite game going!

A lot of the systems are built in such a way as to feed into one another as well.

It's hard to say which the next MMO to capture lightning in a bottle will be but at some point one will. It's just a matter of when.
Not really a fan of PvP-only worlds. What I've seen of the FAQ isn't encouraging: "In any case, all this comes to a head via death penalties. A Non-Combatant who dies suffers normal penalties, which includes experience debt, durability loss, as well as dropping a portion of carried raw materials (which can then be looted)."

PvP games are, well, PvP games first-and-foremost. The fact there's PvE (and it's not a major selling point for the game) seems like an afterthought. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time and dying to combat I'm not actively seeking just seems like a waste of my time.

PvP players out there ... have fun!

The biggest problems currently are in regards to how content and jobs are designed. Graphic updates and the like, while nice, will not help fix content related problems. If anything, they will make the problems worse, since developer time is being spent on graphics stuff instead.

I just can't get this mindset to make any sense, why waste money with a product you clearly dislike? Making infamous posts on a forum that looks like a relic from the y2k really brings that much joy that would justify keeping a sub (or multiple subs, for your alt characters)?

since he has said several times he does not pay for his sub, I suspect the "non game purposes" is related to RMT. so really, its a job for him. which makes his posts REALLY illogical

Because it is titanmen, he has dozens and dozens of accounts and most likely finances it through RMT while using all his bot accounts also to make fake claims and posts on the forums. That's literally his whole existence and the only thing that is more sad than that is people just eating his bad bait.

Well, time to hit that google chrome tool to actually hide the person's existence. At least he makes easy to track by having those alts with the very same appearance.

They also almost always have all crafters and gatherers up at 90 and only one combat job at 90. Cause they are basically rmt bots/alts.

I do believe people should keep putting out suggestions, or trying to see change for the better, but I don't actually expect SE to listen or act on any of it. The game is kind of just in it's cycle.

I doubt I will 'quit' the game with 7.0, but I have been keeping my sub less, and even gave up my small - not like it mattered, since I can get another, bigger, one. I should say, I have always played the game very sporadically, and honestly, I actively play it about the same as I always have, but I am just not as enthusiastic about it as I was. SE definitely has the capacity to surprise me, but I really don't see that happening too much. It's nice for the people who are still hoping for the best.
This is more or less how I feel about it. I don't really harbor any sort of intense feelings for the game, nor have I for the past Idk... 5 years? I picture my general disposition towards the game on a timeline that consists of a vague apathy at baseline that is broken by the great highs of an expansion launch. I still continue to play the game because I still enjoy it to some degree, and this pattern hasn't changed at all. The content that is delivered is something I consider to be "just enough" to enjoy, but the needle does not move beyond that. With each major content release I can expect a decent-to-good storyline with some easy-yet-enjoyable content alongside it. I honestly find the level of consistency to be commendable, but I'd be lying if I said I was 100% ok with it. This feeling of "yeah it's ok, I guess" becomes more palpable over time, and while I would like something more (whatever "more" entails is much too nebulous for me to go into at this point), I just don't see it happening. I think the devs are simply all-too-entrenched in their own design pattern at this point.

Ultimately, this won't stop me from playing the game. I've come to see it as that game, the "background game", a game I can always turn to if I'm just not feeling like playing anything else. I've been playing since beta 2.0 and at this time I am far too invested into the world, characters, story, etc... to simply just drop it. Sunk cost doesn't cross my mind. I'm talking momentum. I've been playing, and will continue to do so, but as I said at the start, with a certain hint of apathy. No gnashing of teeth, or stomping my feet, just kind of a shrug.
