I hate raiding, I hate free companies

Well, I know that feeling from other games. In every other game my guild/FC started doing other things like raiding, extreme farming and playing other games.
As long as they saw some advantage in me, they talked to me.
Was always the same shit, like, "Oh, could you make me some gear, weapons, etc.", "Could you lend me some money?", "Could you please do Dungeon XYZ so my character can level up faster?"
And stuff like that further.
The moment I said no, they moved on. I've always done so much for them, I've given them gear, weapons, jewelry, minions, mounts, houses...what I couldn't craft I've bought.
I even helped them level their characters. But when I asked for help, they all didn't have time.
I thought I'd never learn my lesson until I got to Final Fantasy 14...
I've never had a friend here, never had an FC, ignored all FC invites and will never join one.
Never helped anyone again, never added anyone to my friends list, never talked to players about me.
And I have no regrets. I come online when I want, I go offline when I want. When I Login there is no one bothering me with questions or stupid stories about his/her life.
Set your priorities and don't care about others. Then you won't be disappointed anymore.

I agree with all of this, and sadly it is the current state of all MMOs.

People used to play MMO's for fun, and just enjoyed doing stuff together, but sadly MMO's are catering to solo players and it removes the need to actively rely on other people for assistance, killing off the need to actually have 'friends' in the game.
The only people that talk to you are people that 'want' something from you, and will only talk to you maybe once a week when they are done with their own personal gameplay and are bored.

XIV takes it a step further, Most people are creeps, and their only goal in life is to convince people to ERP.
I currently don't play the game, i log in 3 times a week to do my submersibles like a mobile game, because roleplaying has become nothing short of disgusting and is not worth getting involved with, unless you want a couple of thirsty stalkers...

FCs don't serve a lot of purpose except being a "free" company of people. Buffs? You can get better ones from Squadrons. FC exclusive rewards? Non-existent. Workshop? Limited to the FC leader and whoever they appoint.

There's no point joining one unless they are your friends and you want to be part of the group. I wish there were more incentives keeping or joining one.

I gave up on that system a long long time ago. Linkshell with your friends across servers does the same job as the free company chat.

Is two married couples in FC alongs with others who are best friends and still others who is also casual solo players thats like to join in on group activities every now and thens. One of thems group activities is treasure maps. FC mates all join in on the funs! Sometimes FC mates just pick a house belonging to FC mate to hangs out at and chats. Mao helped lots FC mates get houses so now most has house.

Most only invite people so they get the fc credits to buy stuff and submarine tanks so the leader and friends can get gil. They dont really care about the person they are inviting at all. Some advice, if a medium-big fc random invites or /tells an invites you just decline. Not worth being ignored and used as you arent part of the leaders clique.

Vel says yes to Mao, Vels FC is him and one or two friends, do what you want when you want. Vel runs submarines and airships workshop solo, Vel used to be in an FC that also had one, asked us for materials all the time..but never shared any loot or materials.

Matter of fact when Vel asked about these, Vel was deluged with a dozen questions as to why he wanted them , what he wanted them for.

Vel left when he saw that all the "help" was going one way only. When HE needed help and asked for it, silence.

Lets just ignore the cliques, the infighting, the backbiting, the FC drama, the FC leaders that just use people for what they want and little else. Ive BEEN in larger FC's, I have my own for the simple fact I got sick and tired of being used. Had it ever occurred to you that a "solo player" does so because he or she has found out what absolute JERKS people can be, has been treated badly and as a result is happy to socialise when THEY want?

I also point out that if and when you leave an FC, those so called "Friends" all of a sudden dont want to know you? Funny that....

I do have fun in FF 14 Dixie, I just find that I have more fun when Im not dealing with FC drama and politics.

Ill add one more point: if this is the way some people on here really behave and speak to others, WHY in the name of the Twelve would I want to socialise with THEM? If they are really like they are on here, these are people to AVOID at all costs.

Real talk tho - I'm baffled at how people claim it is impossible to find friends.

I understand that it can be difficult when people are just silent... but not everyone is silent all the time? I've met all of my good friends through the game not Discord. Met one through RP, one through admiring each others glam, one from standing next to each other fishing, multiple from PF raiding... Hell. I made one through slinging insults at each other after a particularly bad run in PotD. We traded words back and forth until it was actually devolving into meme talk and realized we found the other funny. We've been good friends for 5 years now.

Maybe people just don't take the initiative enough.

I don't use FC to socialize though. My FC is only me.
