Accessing FFXIV while traveling abroad

I am an active NA player but will be in Europe for two months. Does anyone know if I will be able to log in (mainly to maintain my housing) while abroad? I will be in many different European counties.

I also use the OTP software token (would there be any issues using that as well)?

Hi, I’ve gone back and forth to Japan several times and kept playing. As long as you have internet you should be able to log in to the game like nothing changed. I use the OTP as well. Just keep in mind you are still connecting back to NA so that might affect your latency, and of course your friends will now be in a quite different time zone. Getting used to the new daily/weekly reset times in my local time zone was a bit weird as well!

Can I just say how sad it is that the official Moderator posts some boiler plate (almost automated) worthless answer, while a member of the community provides a helpful and concise answer almost right away?

This pretty much sums up the state of the forums rather well.

I visited Japan a few years ago and was able to log into the game from the Eorzea Cafe in Akihabara. (I'm a recovering Gold Saucer addict, don't judge.) As long as you have your account name and password, you're good to go.

Indeed, because it's an attempt to NOT HAVE AN ISSUE, and it's a TECHNICAL question. I'd say it fit perfectly where it was, and a good staff would have answered the question, and then locked it, and left it there so the answer could be easily found.

Is odd; I mean I get it not actually being an issue as he’s just asking if it’ll be fine, but the mod could have just said “as long as you can access your email and verify your new IP, you’ll be fine”, or “See this FAQ”.

(It’s not so helpful, just says “yeah you can” without details)

I would recommend doing a trial of an IP masking tool like surf shark if you don’t want to keep verifying, but otherwise, should be good to go.
