I'm not even strictly against MTX in general, but $18 for a glamour set is laughable, no matter how many justifications you try to pull. Just to put it in perspective, Steam has summer sales right now, for those $18 (to be fair, for me it says 13.5 euro, idk what's the deal with this pricing), you could get either of these games and still have few bucks left:

Halo: Master Chief Collection - 10
Need for Speed: Heat - 14
Hades - 12.25
Dragon Age: Inquisition - 10
Mafia 1 remake - 14
Divinity: Original Sin II - 18
Metro Exodus - 6
Yakuza: Like a Dragon - 15
Monster Hunter Rise - 16
Subnautica/Below Zero - 9.89
Teraria - 5
Skyrim:SE - 10
Witcher 3 - 9 (GotY 2015)
It Takes Two - 16 (GotY 2021)
Ark - 4.19
Anno 1800 - 15
Valheim - 12
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey - 12
Horizon Zero Dawn - 16.49
Doom Eternal - 13.19
FFXV 17.49

If you want to go slightly over $18, you can get:
Red Dead Redemption 2 - 19.79
Nier: Automata - 20
Stray - 21
Detroit: Become Human - 20

... and much more.

So it's up to you if you want to spend your money on single mediocre set in FFXIV, or buy something like Witcher 3 or It Takes Two, both of which were GotY, or even FFXV, which gets a lot of flak, but nowadays it's honestly 7/10 at it's worst, but realistically still 8+/10 game.
