Those Alts....

I like to replay the story. New Game Plus wasn't a thing yet, so I have alts now.

I also make an alt whenever I'm contemplating a fantasia, because the character creator doesn't do a great job of actually showing the character in in-game conditions.

Some "Tempest" members (and they are not the only ones doing this) have like 8 alts that they raid with all tier and ask for 2 kind of compensation (80 to 200M per run depending the tier, or another type of paypal legend currency) to join their pf's on 2 previous raids. Truely some honorary member of non-rmt trolling and shiddying the gameplay of the end-game when in "non prog" early week mode. So when some people say "who would even waste their time doing this type of stuff on the pfinder just to sell clears" , well, the type of looser that have nothing else to do of their days obviously, then to be 24/7 on leveling and gearing jobs on 8 different alts. Do the math if it's probably one of their only source of revenue, you would be pretty agressive with trolling and gatekeeping the pfinder with bad actors / bad elements and hindering an absolute maximum of other people's progression as often and as much as possible.

How do you manage it? I have 2 characters I invest in, and that's a lot of work even with this one, Klee, being more focused in scope as I made her to play with my friends (from irl who have characters on Aether). I've heard that some players have all character slots used or have characters throughout multiple server shards.

For those with numerous alts, how many do you have and what's your motivation behind them?

Way too many lets say 12+ won't admit to the exact number of 90's I have in endgame. Too many butterfly nets be chasing me if I did.

I have 1 main with almost everything done on it, but I do have 4 alts that I use mostly for playing 1 specific job and/or with friends and/or because certain styles look better on certain characters.

Like my main is a kinda macho girl, so most of her gear is actual plate armor. Robes don’t look so good on her. My Miqo’te dude-mage is better suited in robes. My Hrothgar monk is in a formal suit…and uh.. my bunny girl is rocketing her lingerie starter bottoms and bikini/cardigan top. They’re also a man-roe, but he just kinda looks like a construction worker. Not sure what to do w/ him…

Zero RP use, just like to play on a different character with a different style sometimes.

I really wanted an alt at times but one character that can level every job is already extremely time consuming. So I just do without.

Maybe if I ever run out of things to do I can make one but that seems unlikely.

I like to replay the MSQ but NG+ just isn't the same. I like to feel the character progression going from a nobody adventurer to an accomplished WoL.

I've got 5 characters that are up to date through the 6.3 MSQ (one has 6.4 completed, one is almost complete and I'll spread out doing the other 3 between now and 6.5's release).

I've got 2 other alts that I play occasionally, one is on ARR MSQ and the other close to the end of SB MSQ. I'll end up deleting one of the two eventually (the one I keep will be running the workshop for its FC so that's one less chore for the FC's Master to worry about).

I will say that I have a lot more time on my hands than the average player. There's no way I'd maintain this many characters if I only had a few hours to play each week. If I was smart, I'd cut back my max level characters to 3 (good number for gathering from timed nodes if I need a lot of materials in a hurry) but I've grown attached to each of them in some way.

And yes, I have deleted multiple other alts I've made and played through the MSQ in the past.

ATM, 1 main, 3 Alts<Potentially 4, Depending on How Female Hrothgar Turns out. Hopefully at Minimum: Decent>

There is quite a bit I haven't done in this game. Hence why I haven't taken my alts beyond ARR Post Patches, or HW Ishgard Unlock.

But if I had Everything I wanted to get done on my main, My Alts who are MidlanderM, HighlanderF, RoegadynF. Would Likely be in Shb by now at story at minimum.

Since I enjoy the different styling, and ideas/interpretations of them.

Even just taking some time out of the free-bored time to work and play their retainers does alot to accumulate progress on them.

It is honestly one of the reasons I push for Accountwide-ing option to almost everything. <Except for single use shop items. Such as Fantasias or Dyes. Orchestrions, Naturally should be Accountwide.>
As almost literally any system that benefits Individual Players, benefits Alt Players.
[Like the recent Book Reduction in Savage Benefits Alts, but not so much Directly.
All Boats Float. Gives more incentive for SE to give us the nice and Heavy QOL too, like Glamour system restructuring that is less taxing.]

But these are my reasons, and I ain't even properly raiding in recent times.

If all my alts were at EW I know for sure I'd have a sea of content to sort through.

I have 2 endgame alts not counting my main guy who has ever job including crafters/gatherers. With a 3rd alt on her way (doing the ARR portion atm)

My Main that I do EVERYTHING with.
And My Alt which is just do the things I enjoyed doing again once Im caught up, and is a change of Pace Visually. Plus we dont have Female Hrothgar Yet.
