There's a lot of seasonal events because they're timed around RL events, and Japan has quite a few festivals, but not many holidays, for example.

Aaactually, although achievements cause me some stress, I'd still rather have a seasonal event only reward me an achievement and no items. Regardless of the Inn storage that we'll get for those. . . . The one-time-only makes me feel bad about throwing them away, yet I never ever use them /ocd

i don't care for the events much but i like the seasons, esp the flower trees in uldah, they adding some dimension the to the city with the falling flowers.
Nice ideaI think the general idea of earth inspired occasions is to get the playerbase to appreciate each other's cultures (although the devs could perhaps take inspiration from more ethnic groups)
I think it would be a good idea to isolate/regionalise the events rather than having the same event immitated in each city at the same time. Regionalising events would also encourage people to crowd around other cities (even if just for a short week or two) and keep things feeling fresh with a new hub point every month. e.g. Summer in Uldah, Winter in Ishguard, St Patricks Day in LL with all the drunken pirates (;p), Summer Solstice in Grid with all the hippies, etc
It would also enable the devs to put on a more spectacular show with events if they only have to tailor it to one zone as opposed to just plopping down a generic npc, one chrismas tree or one egg basket and a few fireworks or snow effect. It would also be nice if events became more dynamic as they drew to a close changing in style and direction, e.g. in firefall faire we chased around a few bombs to hamlets for a week or two, why not add a gigantic bomb king going havoc towards the end of the event that could act as a world NM with servers competing to gain the title of defeating it.
Each region clearly has different lore (as per the regional difference in opinion on Dalamud) so it seems lore breaking that the whole continent celebrates the same events.
I call LL for Sublgiar Fest!!
keep doing the events SE, it's a real nice job =)
I like having all cities celebrate the events. One other thing that happens when the events are all in one city is that everyone MUST do that event in that city. I know people who stay in Limsa and do events in Limsa because their computers can't handle Ul'dah.
Frankly I think the events are one of the things that has made the game more tolerable in the lack of nothing to do; particularly the amazing summer festival decorations.
it can take all of an hour to do most of them, why is this such a big deal?

achievements, especially seasonal achievements, rea relaly for nothing more than to say "I was here for this and I participated." It's not like anyone else is going to think less of you if you didn't happen to be online for the easter egg hunt event and didnt get the achievement.
here, here for story-based holidays!
I agree, but at least the stuff we're getting in this game isn't as useless as the event stuff we got in XI. I liked these Easter rings because (when I got them) I was leveling my lancer (which was about 16).
