I have no interest in discussing the other game I was referring to, to be honest - for one, I really don't enjoy doing so and have no interest arguing my point about a game I now dislike on the forum of a game I enjoy.
And secondly, I can't see any reason to since it is, demonstrably, only acceptable to have a negative opinion of FFXIV in this forum in general and this thread in particular.

So don't even bring it up if you only want it to support yours and yours only argument.

As for negativity, I don't get it. This is official forums, not some facebook meme page. Why would anyone come here to spread positivity? You have twitter, reddit, FB is supposedly still a thing, discords, and many other media for that. OF is more akin to discussion forums and positive things simply do not spark the discussions, which is why narrative often seems skewed towards negativity. The fact that half of the posts nowadays are shitposts is another thing.

There are far too many people who misrepresent me as someone who dislikes FFXIV when my main issue is how far the standards have fallen and how shocking the change of direction has been when compared to previous expansions.

My ideal situation is one where FFXIV is back to levels of enjoyment I had prior to Endwalker. Seeing the game seemingly double down on all the mistakes it's been making this expansion has been an awful experience, doubly so when I'm attacked by people who do not have the frame of reference I do of when this game was in a far better state.

I simply don't wish to get into an argument about a game I don't enjoy anymore on a forum for a game that I do. I don't see any value in a discussion of that nature.

Why wouldn't they? I mean, my first post/thread here was pretty much asking advice and I received some wonderful responses. I don't much like the implication that forums are little more than a soapbox for players who only want to broadcast complaints.

I tend to think YoshiP (and no, I don't worship him - but he does know infinitely more about managing a gaming company than I do) was correct when he said "the silent always leave first" and "if citizens are complaining it means they still care".
But that doesn't mean that we should do nothing but complain, does it?

Not sure where you got the idea that I think people here are haters as I said nothing to suggest that. I simply stated that I feel the forum leans too far into negativity to the point where, in some threads, saying something positive leads to rebuke and having to justify my opinion as I have done here.

You are partly correct, however, this is not always the case and there are absolutely people on the forums that do and have blamed, say the Venue/RP community for the state of things, or at least have implied they are responsible. Similarly, people have done the same with "The Limsa AFK community"

As if somehow being at Limsa on occasion, or engaging in RP is even a remote indication of the feeling of how you think the game should be designed, relics or anything else for that matter.

There are people that have expressed legit criticisms, however, there are also people that have resorted to blaming or making passive-aggressive digs at certain spaces of the community whilst doing so.

So yes, if you cannot make a criticism without that, or have done so whilst making your criticisms then it is a pretty logical conclusion to say you're in some way, shape or form upset/angry at those groups of players.

And there is nothing wrong with it, but just like I said, positive things usually do not spark discussion. If you make 5 positive posts and 5 negative ones, the negative ones will overwhelm the positive ones in a flash, since they offer no discussion or any engagement. People will just nod and not say anything worthwhile, while people in negative ones will keep talking about it. And if you get negative comments on something you think is positive, then voila, you found out that other players don't feel the same as you do.

I've looked up that thread you speak of and it's new player asking how glam plates work with 10 responses. What if it was instead about why do the glam plates work like that. Now you have multiple pages of people shitting on that system and on everyone else who tries to defend such a bad system. Same topic, different approach, yet negative one outshines the positive one.

People disagree, that is core of discussion. You're on discussion forum. If you like something, good for you, but that doesn't mean that others like it too. Unless you talk about something universally agreed on, like lack of butt slider, people will disagree with you. Nothing wrong with that. Honestly, if nobody disagrees with you, what you said probably didn't contribute to discussion a whole lot.
