Blade and Soul is very instanced. I didn't like it. Makes you miss proper MMOs.

I think at the end of the day both groups wouldn't be oposed to a "Both" system it's just both sides are barking at eachother occasionally for no good reason when nobody has said we want all ____.
It's a few people being insecure making entire groups of people look bad.
If you read the following quote as a question regarding whether or not they should change the claim system, you are the one with the reading comprehension issue..if you notice the actual part of the sentence phrased as a question refers to would you prefer the content to be converted to instanced.I am guessing your either too young to ave learned much reading comprehension yet, or you just didn't do well with it in high school and college. Judging by your oddly incorrect conclussions, most likely failed at it in general.
If you actually apply reading comprehension to the question you keep refering to in the poll, then you would understand, the question is about content in relation to the claiming system. No relation to, or reference was mad to open world or any comparison there of.
It makes alot of sense. There have been alot of new players come in since then. Thats evident by the mass influx of threads in the new player area. Also, the mass amount of "I am quitting" threads in the general discussion.
Most people are simply applying common sense in their realization that those who took that poll then, are not the general current population. Especially when you consider they were the freerolling crowd, while we are now in a period in which players pay.
If the current target claiming system were done away with, would you prefer for content such as dungeons and battle to be converted into instances as much as possible?
"The people have spoken. As such, we'll be operating under the premise that new PvE content, such as dungeons containing sought-after loot, will be instanced.
Why would yoshi reply to THAT question, with an answer saying "ok, thanks for the input, because of what you answered we will be implementing instanced content" if its main point was the claim system?
Maybe most of the people that are playing now weren't around for the poll, but that sucks for them. We were around when they asked us what we wanted, we answered, and they responded by designing 2.0 in a way that tailored to the answers of those polls.
If you don't like it, tough. They are not going to change everything they have worked on since april 2011 because some new people returned to the game and are gonna bitch and moan that content is instanced. And honestly, if thats a gamebreaker for you, I feel sorry for you. Who the F**k cares. I guarantee the minute they release an open world dungeon people will freak out that they have to compete for a darklight equivalent with other linkshells, on top of a low drop rate
The polls are not "old" by any means. What do you want them to do, poll us every month and if anything changes, scrap everything they've been designing? Use common sense please..

Sir, thank you for that. I know exactly the commercials those come from (flat bottom crunchy tacos anyone?) and I remember watching them for the first time and laughing then as well. I think I've teared up a smidgen (though it could be residual tears from replaying FFT on psp). +1'd you so hard. I mean uh....
Please dear god find a person's quote that says they want a full complete instanced material, because i can assure you that you will find none. People comparing cons/pro of instances doesnt make them closed minded instanced only group.
In the other hand, go talk to Rokien and see his posts and come back to me about his open world opinion.
While i prefer instances, i never have issues with open world as long as they dont bring retarded crap like open world HNMs dropping the best stuff without alternatives on instanced part.
there has been at least 1 on another similar thread, and several have been real close. And a great many who state they would only be for HNMs under certain conditions. Thats where my point with the issue lies.
You can get down from that high horse now sir!!It makes alot of sense. There have been alot of new players come in since then. Thats evident by the mass influx of threads in the new player area. Also, the mass amount of "I am quitting" threads in the general discussion.

The fact is that come 2.0 the average players opinion will once again change, 2.0 is aimed at a more casual crowd from what I can see.
Casual players in general like instanced content because its easy to jump into and get something done without wasting time, add this with the content finder and you can see that SE are obviously committed to making instanced content (a cross server content finder can't work as far as I know using the open world)
For what it's worth we already have open world content, mid range NM,s the higher leveled NM's the stronghold etc, I think I remember Yoshi-p saying that the strongholds will remain in 2.0 as they are now.

There already is tons of open world content. I have absolutely no idea why you people are freaking out. Even if you exclude all the quests, NMs, leves, and missions available while leveling up, there are 4 open world dungeons and 4 instanced ones.
I genuinely hope you are not serious. The open world content in ffxiv is almost as engaging as a bag of rocks. Leves, the single most bland, repetitive. Boring aspect of any open world content, are horrible. Nm's aren't true Nms, they are just monsters with unique names that pop every 5 mins. Strongholds? Really? What is there to do thete aside from SB and AT quests?
When compared to its older brother, FFXIV's open world content is sheer and utter garbage.
