hey just because some terrible people misuse something isn't a reason to ban it from everyone some people just enjoy content that suit their way I follow alot of gothic/emo make up tiktoks and styles that suit me

I feel like I've seen documentaries about it, though. Little girls would lie about their age, and so would the predators. Regardless, it seems like their moderation was terrible. Good riddance if you ask me.

If it shuts down TikTok in the West I'm all for it.

It gives the US gov yet more right to invade citizens privacy and criminalise it's citizens for any vague reason they choose. The ban has nothing to do with tik tok and everything to do with giving themselves yet more authority. I sincerely NA players do their homework on this bill and contact their representatives. You can go to prison for 20 years for interacting in any way with something they choose as a foreign enemy. Use a vpn to carry on using tiktok? Enjoy your 20 years or huge unpayable fine. They will ruin your life at their whim and not opposing the bill you may as well be telling them to go right ahead.

why are you bringing real world drama that has to do with tik tok into this game? also going to point out that vpn's are widely used to by pass country stuff. netflix is a huge example of that where people with vpn's will connect to other countries to watch different programs. in gaming. it might help with latency but still its bypassing your own country and hiding your ip as being from another country.

If you use a VPN and get caught up to a $250k fine and 20 years in prison. Gaming on consoles and PC will be monitored. Basically kiss the 1st amendment goodbye

RESTRICT act also know as the TikTok ban adds a ton of broadly worded language that in some people's opinion lead to criminalizing VPNs.

What is the FFXIV community's views on this.

The problem is that "some people" tend to have a lot of opinions without any factual arguments to back them up.

I don't see how this would have an effect on FFXIV. It might effect MMO players that happen to use TikTok, but it won't shut down their access to the servers. The effect is the same as when they raise the social security cap every year. Maybe my taxes go up and it "effects me" but it has no bearing on my ability to play an MMO.
