I wouldnt necessarily say Doom and Gloom but more like Gloom and Doom

I don't mind it as much as I mind some of these self-same individuals acting as if you've committed a cardinal sin by disagreeing with their criticism, and subsequently trying to be disingenuous about marks being made. Some people have essentially rendered 'white knight' to be the most pointless and inaccurate remark possibly made.
That said, I just let people get on with it. The only accomplishment these people have this way is screaming in the void, and insults/snide remarks, that frankly, people could not care any less of.
The irony is, that whilst some people go around with the coveted narrative "People can't handle people criticizing their beloved game" - Is many of these individuals act the very same way when you disagree with what thoughts they have.
I feel that it's worth noting that said concerns etc are tolerated here.
From experience, some game forums have moderators/CM's with very little tolerance toward anything they perceive as negativity or criticism of the game, and are often very quick to edit such posts/close threads and issue warnings (or forum bans) to the player(s) involved.
Possibly why the forum for the game I used to play seems to receives a very low level of activity these days.

Nothing in particular is going on with people.
If you look at most MMO forums (or gaming forums for that matter), you will mostly find endless complaining, trolling, and drama. Most players are in the game enjoying themselves, and the people posting on forums/reddit/etc. are relatively small, self-selecting groups of players who enjoy raging about the game that they pay for and no-life.
It's not my cup of tea, but to each their own!
U mean Pudding and Doom
This is nothing new here. some thread have value issues, some personal issue with the game and then there are threads that are just made for stirring up argument and bickering and some are just for fun and so on...
and longer in the expansion lifecycle more weirder threads will pop up
Emphasis "most"Nothing in particular is going on with people.

I mean, I spend a lot of time on the forum - in fact, more than I spend in game. This is because I can access the forum at work, and read threads/post replies between work related tasks.
So I just took a peek at the WoW forums and while the language is generally the same as over here. One thread in particular talked about theres a lack of content there.
The grass is always greener and junk I guess
The experience spending time on here, and actually playing the game is night and day. Quite similar to watching the news, or flooding your mind with youtube videos about how rotten people are in 2023. When you actually go outside, you see the sky is actually not falling. The fact that several people can come here and cry so hard about how bad the game is only goes to show how easy they have it irl. It really must be fantastic if FFXIV represents the greatest of their woes. What's going on with people? Why are so many of you acting like this game is 72 hours away from total collapse? Yeah I know it's a content lull, but think back to the huge content lulls in Shadowbringers. Remember when The Coof was making it so Yoshi P's team had to work from home? Huge long months between update patches? I don't think things right now are as bad as people say they are. Nothing in this game's development is ever going to be perfect.
So calm down, lighten up and stop worrying so much.
Don't we play games like these to get away from the world and it's problems?
This place has a lot of doom and gloom because those that use the forums are generally unhappy. If you see a positive thread, it only get's a few pages worth of comments because there isn't anything more to say other than "Good job SE I like this". Alternatively, if there is a positive thread such as for random example "I love Endwalker here is why" it's going to attract all the unhappy folks and derail it into the ground to make sure their opinions are heard by SE. If SE saw that one positive post and took it at face value, it'd make those that are unhappy even more unhappy, so those posts usually get shut down.
Additionally, misery attracts misery. People take comfort in knowing they are miserable with someone else. But also, there are probably traces of schadenfreude in these doom and gloom posts as well. Many people believe their criticism is for the betterment of the game, but sometimes people just want someone to talk to.

Agreed. It’s time that Square Enix close these forums for good. They serve to host comments or complaints about the game, and if we can only have one set of opinions, then discussion is no longer needed. What's going on with people? Mods, please lock this thread. OP, please refrain from posting any further as doing so provides for alternate viewpoints which are no longer needed.
