Would it really fix the problem? What would happen if you die and have 0 anima? The problem would still be there, cuz people would die anyways ;PYou know, SE has the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. People are complaining about a lack of reasonable death penalty. Of course, that entire debate is torn into whether it should involve EXP loss or not.
Give us Chocobos and Airships, and make it so you lose anima upon death. It'd give people a reason to not die (You wouldn't be able to instant travel as much), and it'd promote the use of Chocobos and Airships by making anima points more rare.
I see people with so many cool ideas here, and I'm all for it. But I think they should just allow people to ride from the stables in each city. Just for starters, and then build the other features from that. Maybe with a simple quest (and i don't mean side-quest, i mean quest with cutscene please ;P) that has you saving some chocobos (like FFXIII one) to give you access to the stables.
It is quite imperative to have a way to travel faster in this game. But they should just focus on the most important thing - have people ride them. And then bring the breeding, racing, and whatever's on their sleeves ;P
About the anima. The current system is fine, if they implement chocobos. But I wouldn't mind if they remove the system, or having so that you can only teleport in aetherites.
Ever think the evil empire could steal aetherites or maybe screw them up?
i want to pimp my ride... chocobos please!!

Ya that would be awsome, I would rather them wait to add chocobos until they can add stuff like this with them.
I think the different colors should be something one needs to achieve, kinda like XI. It gives a player something to work for and a direction. If everything was just handed to players they would be bored and leave the game. I'm not saying an exact copy of what XI does but not just handing color chocobos to players either.
I agree with the airship and main city too, but maybe that's just copying XI again.

I think that if they gave us these three things people would gladly pay a subscription fee, myself included. However I can kind of understand them wanting to fix the battle/gameplay mechanics and tweak/polish off things before they start adding loads of content (which Yoshi has stated they are doing). Pointless to build off of a broken foundation, wouldn't we agree? I have a feeling (or at least I'm hoping) that they're gonna roll out some great stuff during the second half of this year. The game has already improved drastically since launch and that's just from fixing bugs and improving core mechanics. Once they are done with all this stuff I think we're gonna start seeing some good content, perhaps (fingers crossed) even these three things. My only concern now is the dwindling population.

No point adding airships until they open Ishguard, FF11 airships only went to Jueno anyway.
Chocobo's on the other hand Yes Please, Can I have It!
I don't think unlimited anima is a good idea but maybe 0 anima to a city state would be a better idea.

I for one agree on all 3 things being implimented. Opening up Ishgard would be huge on being our main city and for the content factor. That place looks huge even tho it's just a background bitmap atm. Would make for more stories, more quest and a really cool place to go to. Also a big yes to chocobo's and airships for that FF feeling. I say keep anima around too for those just incase needs to get somewhere instantly but no longer as main way of getting around. Now for another addition, being able to fight on chocobo's in chase raids or garleans attacking airships (i.e. you fighting soldiers or monsters landing on the ships) would be another amazing bonus! ^^
