Does Final Fantasy have one of the nicest MMO communities?

I got my start in WoW. And I have to say, compared to any other mmo I've played, this community is the nicer ones. WoW was king of horrible attitudes. LOTRO was full of drama queens. SWTOR was more a solo game than an MMO even though it rewarded grouping. EQII is all but dead. DCUO no one talks to anyone. So yeah my experience with this game have been way way more favorable both community wise, and development team wise.

In JP servers, the people are really nice but if you try moving to NA douchebags are everywhere

People tend to have bad attitudes in any MMO. Just the other day I saw a bard who appeared to be botting (standing still, attacking anything that spawned). Instead of reporting right off the bat, I sent them a tell asking if they were a bot. Dude replied with an attitude/insults and told me he was using a marco and I needed to "L2P". Simply told him I was just informing him as to what it looked like and then said "you're welcome".

Not a particular bad example but the aholes are there and will always be there.

An oldie but a goodie. I remember back in the first month of 2.0 I had one really bad experience dungeons, and it was in Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium. Long since fixed, but you all know the drill. People hassled me for watching cutscenes and complained that I was a newbie holding the group back (people wanted to run them for Philosophy Tomestones for Darklight gear acquisition).

After that I got warned that I would get kicked from Amdapor Keep if I queued with the gear I had on. I queued for it, and didn't get kicked, and got instructed on LBing Left Bee for Demon Wall.

In hindsight it's wild to me that people thought others were silent back then. Everyone was way more talkative. There were more reasons to talk, everything was new, and people were always asking questions.

Heh, the old, "No this MMO's community migrating here is what made it shit." persists to this day I believe.

Honestly surprised at how many people in this thread still play actively, or at least seem to have level 90 jobs. Blast from the past.

Frankly no. I don't think it's nice. FFXIV will straight up ban people if in the NICEST WAY possible you ask another to do something...they can get all butthurt and report you.

So people are either nice because that's the way they are, passive-agressive, or just straight up refuse to engage with people in fear of being banned.

At least in WoW people are allowed to speak their mind and not have to sugarcoat everything.

I rather someone call me all sorts of names over them not saying anything cause "they don't want to offend" even if they thing they want to say is not offensive in the least.

This game's community is awful. The people that will talk are normally some brand of degenerate, and the multitudes that won't talk mostly refrain from doing so because, as the previous poster indicated, they're afraid of being banned. You can get reported at the drop of a hat it seems like. To top it all off, you can barely criticize the game or its community without inviting the wrath of said community upon yourself. People tend to be far more outspoken on the forums due to an overall (but not definitive) lack of moderator activity and the knowledge a ban here won't affect their in-game standing, but that still doesn't circumvent the community's habit of eating itself over the least little perceived slight.

Let's see. The community is mainly a group of erp degens. Streamers who use their popularity to get free stuff (looking at you Zepla), drama filled, I seen people that were married IRL get divorced because they met someone else in game. This community is FAR from nicest or even friendliest. I will say this you can't sprinkle sugar on dog feces and expect it to smell good. That is the community
