The tank role tends to attract the egotistical "I am the main character" types.

Of course these types can be found in every role, but it is prevalent among tanks.

It's simple.

Tanks: The Leader
Healers: The Lancer/The Heart
Physical DPS: The Big Guy
Ranged Phys DPS: The Gadgeteer/The Heart
Caster DPS: The Smart Guy

Those "Sowy in advance I'm new to the job/duty UwU" people are really something. They know they're bad but don't care enough to try to be better. It's like they have a legit pass to screw up, sometimes intentionally.

On the topic of tanks, it’s really boggling to me the number of tanks I get who don’t use any of their mitigation cooldowns in Expert roulette. (I’m obviously on a healer job when I notice this.)

In fact, very few of them do at all.

Pro tip: if you have a curebot in your group it’s probably because the tank is not using any of their CDs so the healer has to babysit.

Few stories from yesterday's daily

• Leveling: Dzemael Darkhold

  Zoned into duty in progress with 36m (what??) elapsed as a PLD. The party was stuck at last magitek wall before the corridor that leads toward last boss chamber. I asked for inquiry to learn what actually happened... no response.
  
  We cleared the duty just fine later on. But if I have to make a wild guess as of why the previous tank is nowhere to be seen (assuming they even bail), it was probably because the WHM never casted anything but Cure I. They weren't even making use of their Freecure procs. Good thing those HQ potions left from PotD is still around!

• 5678: The Burn

  Zoned in as a PLD again. Got a first time notification coming from the SCH. Okay great, I need that for my WT. I smelled trouble the moment we cleared first pack: SCH was out of MP(what???)
  
  Fast forward to last boss, I have never seen or heard Aetherflow being used on top of excessive use of Physick/Adlo/Succors to react against incoming damage which is probably the major reason they're manaless for most of time. This became an issue on last boss where on top of being manaless, they also died quite early into the boss fight. The RDM bailed their first death but both of died at about 30% HP remaining while the dragon was about to touch down during the foggy phase. Had to be a Blue Healer to buy the RPR time to dps boss to death.

• Lv90: Dead Ends

  Decided to take a break from those two tanking duties and queued with a role that I'm most familiar with: healer (WHM). That BLM really loved the scent of death it literally looked like they're trying to die at every boss mechanics. I tried my best to bail them out every times but ultimately they slipped hard enough that they finally die a total one time at 2nd boss.
  
  That DNC made a good choice to swap partner off the BLM after 2nd boss because apparently the latter never even leave 4th slot in enmity list, I'm not even sure what were they doing the entire time.

• Expert: Troia

  The only good run I had from these dungeon roulettes. Zoned in as a PLD. The run was so fast Scarmiglione started summoning his minions when his health was already at sub 30%(?).

A moment of reprieve would be good...

I would play yoyo with these tanks' health bar just to force them to finally pop their cooldowns out of fear of dying (or worse: Clememecy, if they're PLD lol). Seems to work wonder for most of time.

It's not really a story per-se, but it's my reaction after so many repeated encounters with the same sort of player...

I have a love-hate relationship with this guy.



I love his backstory.
I hate how he gives Gunbreaker job stones to people who don't know how to tank.

Radovan, the legacy of Bozja is not worth this. If you're going to give random people a job stone, make sure you teach them what Rampart does first!!

Failure to mitigate in expert is perfectly acceptable if the tank is decent at the game and playing WAR. It's about the only way to get to throw around all that self-healing without most of it going into overhealing territory. Most healers in randoms will panic if HP is anywhere close to half, so it's never going to get low enough under normal circumstances for them to enjoy that part of their kit.

Now if they aren't healing themselves after taking things to the face, that's when you curebot. Or better yet, grab some popcorn and watch everything burn.

This. WARs get the most out of their healing if they let themselves drop to like 20k HP before popping BW. Especially 86+ because you have Orogeny which is an oGCD aoe that you can use immediately after.

When I play WAR though most healers immediately start topping me off, so I just use it immediately whenever I've grabbed both packs. Although, as healer I've run into a handful of WARs that just don't use it? Like I've sat there waiting for this one WAR to pop BW and they never did for the entire dungeon. It doesn't matter too much because I usually play SGE or AST, so I have plenty of sources of oGCD heals so I can still DPS while healing, but as someone that's actually played the class it confuses you when you first run into it.
