I have done everything to catch these stupid fish and nothing. It is beyond frustrating. I give up. Way to gate progression behind something to stupid. I have been doing this for months so no I am not looking for a quick finish. I wait for the right weather, I watched the guides and nothing. I give up.

I am not quitting or hating on the game overall but I am so frustrated with this. needed to get it off my chest.

Maybe you all have some pointers that I have not done but I think I have done them all.

Way to gate progression behind something to stupid.

This quest has nothing to do with progression. It is entirely optional and was designed to be the hardest endgame challenge for Fishers back in ARR (it is not anymore).

The only problem is that the quest doesn't make that clear. It is too easy to accept the quest. Ultimate raids at least are locked behind savage.

The cool thing about this quest line is you can get any of the fish at any part of the quest. Chum and surface slap are your friends. Only reel in the correct tug you're looking for. So if your target intuition fish is a ! then only reel in !. The only fish that felt that it had a tight window was the one in Southern Thanaland. All of the target fish are a !!!.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but with the abilities and higher GP we have now those fish are much easier to catch than they used to be. What's more, they barely move the needle on the bullshitometer compared to some of the fish you're going to see in later expansion zones.

Did it last year and finished it in a day. Like many battles it is best won before you enter the fight. Organize a good timetable and research the fish in advance. If I, a junior angler at the time, can do it, anyone can.

You got lucky. The fish don't have a 100% catch rate, even with lvl 90 gear.

Correct in part. I think Namitaro was the most painful, taking 3 windows. Others are not so bad with GP to increase the rate in which you can try again. Was still a pretty casual affair, getting some in the evening and the rest by afternoon the mext day going into the weekend.

I think I gave up on this quest years ago....I know it's been in my quest log for years(probably since 2016 or 2017), but I've practically given up on most things fisher related due to how many of the fish require very specific conditions, and those might not happen for long stretches of time.

Blocking what progress? There's no skill learned. There's no reward other than a little gil. There's no follow-up quest. There's nothing stopping you from going after and catching other big fish of your choice.

Abandon the quest and ignore it from now on. Problem solved. That's what I did a few years back. Hasn't bothered me at all.
