If they have something like that then why dont they just ask the group to kick them? Its a penalty for a reason.

The only MMO I have ever played that's had a dumb penalty for leaving or withdrawing from a queue. Even when one's leave doesn't take no time at all to fill the slot. Like queue pops and game decides to freeze up on you. Then you log back in now missed your queue and now have a penalty for abandoning your queue.

Having to wait 30 minutes isn't the end of the world. There are a lot of other things you can be doing. What I'm talking about is god forbid somebody has to leave in the middle of a dungeon because something comes up, then after they've taken care of their business, 10minutes later they can't queue for Deep dungeon, battle parlor, leap of faith, solo dungeons, old content. This is ridiculous
This is like if you ask an uber driver to drop you off early and then you aren't allowed to start your own car for 30minutes. This is extremely archaic.
You can't even go into the diadem, eureka, bozja. Its like sorry, you had to leave for (*Insert reason*) Now you can't do 90% of the content in the game for 30minutes.
take out the trash
prep ingredients for later meals
FATEs
vacuum
mow the lawn
Solo Treasure Maps
Leves
do laundry
wash dishes
Side Quests
Tribal Quests
dust furniture
Hunts
read a book
crafting
gathering
rake leaves
play a mobile game
update a resume
check to see if emergency supplies need to be replaced
House/apartment decorating
Surely as an adult you can think of ways to occupy yourself until the deserter penalty has expired.
I would add ( Insert adult joke here ) but I wouldn't know what to do for the remaining 28 minutes once I was done.Having to wait 30 minutes isn't the end of the world. There are a lot of other things you can be doing.

I wonder if my computer has minesweeper.

For those left behind, just solo the dungeon damn.
What grinds my gears is knowing that the penalty is there even if you're with a group of friends. I mean... if it's a premade, surely everyone is fine with people leaving? The chances of a person leaving out of spite in such a scenario are not that high, I assume
Psst. The penalty is meant to be a punishment. It isn't much of a punishment if you can just run off and do something else using the game's instance servers, is it? Getting the penalty for leaving a premade is a bit stupid, though.

The penalty is meant to punish you for leaving, why would they remove part of the punishment so that you can just ignore it?
Penalty is incredibly reasonable. What I'm talking about is god forbid somebody has to leave in the middle of a dungeon because something comes up, then after they've taken care of their business, 10minutes later they can't queue for Deep dungeon, battle parlor, leap of faith, solo dungeons, old content. If you know something might come up (like a delivery), don't queue.
If something entirely unpredictable pops up and you have to do a thing, ask your party if it's ok to AFK a minute or two. Most people don't care if it's 5 or less.
Worst case, you have to exit/quit suddenly.. I dunno, wash the dishes? Fold some laundry? Or do literally anything else in the game for a few minutes.
If it was long enough you couldn't AFK/BRB for 5, then it's probably already 30 minutes by the time you get back in/are ready to queue.
The penalty wouldn't exist in the first place if players didn't abuse it back in the day. I think it was people ditching Castrum for Prae, or vice versa. Also, you'd have to join the queue and somehow have it freeze 3 times before suffering a 30 min penalty. It's fair. The only MMO I have ever played that's had a dumb penalty for leaving or withdrawing from a queue. Even when one's leave doesn't take no time at all to fill the slot.
