The fact we don't get an exploratory zone this expansion for the sake of Criterion (laughs) and more Allagan/Crystal Tower nonsense is certainly in line with the rest of what Endwalker has been. One bad surprise after another.

Criterion (and its casual counterpart whose name I forgot) is good content though. It missed the mark with its lackluster reward structure, but the game really needed this kind of 4-man activity imo.
The issue is that 4-man content shouldn't come at the cost of exploratory content and vice versa, as they both fill very different niches. We should ask for both.

Who in right minds camping at Bozja and Zadnor other than farming field notes, dueling and cluster farm? Nothing inside there is viable to make gil compared with Eureka, and also the BA still popping every weekend compared with how lackluster the DRS is.

In other words, wah wah wah after they made an expansion with content that happened to suit my own personal desires, they went and made an expansion that suited others' tastes. Oh, the humanity!

Criterion and Criterion Savage could still be salvaged if they would just go back and add proper drops. Even if it's just upgrade material for tomestone gear, that would still make it well worth doing without screwing up the gearing at all. Or if not that, maybe drops with an item level comparable to EX weapons - slightly above crafted, still below fully upgraded raid gear. Something, anything to make the amount of effort that goes into clearing it give me something tangible instead of leaving me feeling my time was completely wasted.

Do not assume that players who are upset with the current state of FFXIV despise everything about it or how things were before this expansion came around and took a wrecking ball to most aspects of the game.

I'm 95% sure you spent Shadowbringers complaining about the missing Deep Dungeon.

We do have our exploratory content as far as assets are concerned, it's Island Sanctuary. Between that, Criterion and the Deep Dungeon, the same amount of assets are there, it's just not designed the same, or indeed designed as well.
