Anden the Wasted Opportunity

When I started the Anden quests, I was expecting he was some strange beast.
At a certain point I was sure he was a shepherd dog, or maybe a Pyrenean sheepdog.
When we recommended him to talk with Seto, I started to think he was a Shepherd Amaro, thus a "bunny boy" who will become a "cultured bunny boy restocker of Fannow" is not that strange.
After all, Anden is someone saved by the fae, he had to be something fun.

What I don't agree is calling him a "simple shepherd": we are the WoL, he is the WooL, we are the sapling, he is the bush, Anden is a warrior like us, he just fight with a different sword style.

I just think whats going on here is that if you follow naming conventions for the galdjent and drahn, youd figure "Anden" would be either one of those races, especially since hes also a Voeburtite but him being a bunny boy surprised people because it wasnt what was expected.

Ive already said it though, I think its absolutely fine since this kinda shows the Voeburtites werent just all galdjent or drahn.

Yeah that was a total misdirect since it wasn't his real name. I thought the whole thing was kinda clever.

Actually, let's do both. Let's simp for the big races. All hail Hrothgar and Roegadyn. One's fuzzy and warm, the other is large and strong!

Yeah, I had noticed her as well when I was going through NPC names to guess at naming conventions. There's no reason to necessarily dive into her past, though, so lack of mentioning it doesn't mean she isn't.

On a side note, I don't think "Vii" is correct – my understanding is that they are "Viis" whether single or plural.

To be fair, naming conventions are kind of awkward. Setting aside the excuse that what has been documented in the official posts on Hrothgar nomenclature are Sharlayan misconceptions, you have Lost with Helion namesakes and vice-versa. Dabog Invisch is a Helion with a Lost name.

So if you see weird inconsistencies or the odd name for NPCs that doesn't immediately match what you should be seeing, it's since become normal and will go unexplained.

Those aren't two separate issues. The "excuse" is basic lore – the clans only exist for the sake of the character creator's rigid template, and there is only one combined race of Hrothgar with different social standings. And because that is an established fact, having characters of either model having either type of social-status surname makes perfect sense.

And as we already discussed above, it's not "a weird inconsistency" that a Viis has taken a non-Viis name, if it is an accepted thing that they do culturally. Once might have been an error but now we have two of them.

Remember that Viera/Viis have unusually long lifespans – over 200 years, making it quite possible for a living Viis now to have lived in Voeburt before the Flood.
