1. He lacks the use of his own Aether due to the events of ARR.

Garleans lack the use of their own Aether because of an unknown genetic defect preventing them from doing so. And so, during the days before the invention and mass production of magitek, the Garleans relied on making a pact with Voidsent in order to gain the ability to not only manipulate Aether, but also bolster their own physical strength.

2. The Lemure, the quest givers and one of the very last living Reapers, is based in Ul'dah.

Thancred was previously stationed in Ul'dah by the Circle of Knowing during 1.0 and again by the Scions during ARR.

3. Reapers are the dark assassin equivalents of Rogue and Ninja. And have a long history of using their unique a ability to manipulate void magicks in order to silently infiltrate enemy kingdoms and assassinate their leaders.

Thancred is a highly experienced Rogue, throughly trained in the arts during his academic days in Old Sharlyan and was our main man, besides Riol and the Doman refugees, to go on frequent infiltration missions into enemy territories. One of the most notable ones being the captial of Garlemald before its destruction at the hands of Zenos and Fandaniel.

4. Thancred has experience with possession. He was possessed by Lahabrea during ARR.

Experienced Reapers have extensive experience when it comes to allowing their voidsent called the Avatar, possess them temporarily in order boost their own power even further, though without the Reaper themselves losing control of their mind or body.

They just need to retire the Scions and create a new storyline with all new heroes on other worlds. Our world has been saved and they need to end the storyline of it. Only have minor questlines in it after 6.0.

^- This, give us new characters to meet! I can't stand the scions anymore and how they bring them out one by one each patch (or two for the twins) to parade them around, especially Y'shtola delivering exposition every five seconds now. We can't find stuff out or theorize no catmommy already knows it all.

I can't survive another expansion full of faked deaths and big (not really) surprises at the end that everyone is still alive. I think Y'shtola got sliced and "killed" and send into the aetherial sea now in each expansion.

And tbh Zero isn't really a great substitute for fresh influence on the group when she is like a child who doesn't understand basic concepts. I kinda expected a bit more than us teaching a half voidsent the meaning of friendship and food.

You're not wrong on how it would make perfect sense on how it would be beneficial for Thancred in a Numbersway(LopporitTM)

He would have to trade the tank and scouting gear for Maiming, which tbh, lesser tank armor was shared with dragoons/Lancers in the past.

And tbh, it would make people question his accepting nature to let a voidsent take over him/enhance him in many ways, specially after all he's gone through. Would be basically the opposite of Min/Ryn, only consensual without an ascian in the mix.


As to what others said, it's kinda irrelevant to the question/idea you had, since you're mentioning your thought process on thancreds 1+1 gains on if he was.<though I see reapers more hitman in the explosiveness, than from the shadows as Nins.>[Nins literally hide/sneak, whilst Reapers jump across openings in plain sight.]


In either case, we have no idea if the devs would ever give the idea any thought ever.
and they've cemented GNB into him deeply, unless he takes a breather and something new comes along to spur a crossclass change into him.

But we don't know how long we get to keep Zero, or what new characters we will get.

They arnt going to. Not all of them at least. Thancred is probably the only one who MIGHT retire, but its just as likely as the others.
And to note, every expansion we DO get new characters. But they are temps as they are tied to their expansions & homelands.

Y’shtola should have died in the pit. Thancred at least doesn’t come back from the dead and is a more believable character.
