Lost against the only other bidder in a ward where half the other smalls had no bids... now to wait until January 29th for the next results period.

I really dislike that the housing lottery just slows down the FOMO and hoarding (yes this still exists) that plagues the housing system. Not only has the size of the player base doubled in a very short amount of time, Square Enix were able to add Island Sanctuary which gives everyone their own area to customise. Except rather than giving us instanced housing, we were giving a crappy farming system with less depth than those 2010 Facebook games. I played Warlords of Draenor when it was current content and the Garrison, a terrible system I must add, had more depth than Island Sanctury. Of course, we'll get small updates every major patch for the next few at least but honestly just delete the system and use that server load for instanced housing.

Alternatively, given that Square Enix never like to remove content with rare exceptions, actually implement and retroactively enforce a one personal and one FC house PER GAME LICENSE rule. More importantly, do it fast so players don't have time to setup extra accounts and shift Gil around to maximise their chances at buying plots back on new accounts. If we're going to have a limited amount of housing, you should be maximising the chance for as many unique individuals as possible to own one. The hoarding, via alts or being granfathered in from the old ownership rules, absolutely has to be dealt with. It is a necessary evil and just use the calamity salvager to send all the housing items to from extra plots so nothing is lost.

Now I know we've got more servers now as well but to be honest, I don't want to play on a "dead" new server. I spent a lot over 5 months on Raiden after it opened and sure housing is easy to get, but good luck actually seeing many people in the game world or selling things on the marketboard. Playing on a dead server shouldn't be the price to pay for easy to access housing, design better systems thatare actually suitable for a 2023 MMO. The neighbourhood feeling is the biggest load of horseshit I've ever heard of, absolutely nobody walks around them unless there's a raffle going on. Sometimes you'll see people queueing for the generic RP clubs with "Twitch DJs" but that's about it. Half the houses on Lich look identical to how I first saw them when I started the game back in April 2021, they might as well be generic appearances and each plot is instanced like apartments are (so there's just one ward with 100+ versions of each plot as separate areas basically).
