Portraits were better in Beta. Your design is ridiculous.

Who over there at Square Enix came up with this absolutely cooked system?
Why does each picture need to be tied to a gearset?
Why does adjusting ANYTHING (/visor, dye, displayhead) utterly break the portrait?
Why can't we just have one static portrait to be displayed for all such features?

It is beyond me that the beta version of this feature was more intuitively designed than the full release.

Give us a set of 20 portrait slots that snapshot whatever we're wearing/emote, that we can apply statically or dynamically to adventurer plate and/or duty display., based on job or no. What is this looney system we have right now?

You got to hand it to se for always coming up with the MOST convoluted way to do basic things.

I said it before: the weird thing is the system already can work simply off of the pose and apply whatever glam you are wearing. It just doesnt use this to work properly. If you have a working portrait, change your glam, update your gearset and then look at your portraits it shows you a preview of how that portrait would look with the updated glam but you still have to hit save on the portrait aswell. It's just doesnt function for 0 reason.

I very much dislike my portrait reversing to the default one, just because I decide to have another glam. Why can't the portraits adjust to that, I'm just now wearing something different? Either display my new glam, or show what's saved. Not like it makes any difference.
Portraits are way too sensitive. Hide head => breaks, upgrade legs => breaks, sneeze at it => breaks.
    Beta was much better.

Wouldnt mind, being able to set up the default portrait... adjust the pose and maybe the design and simply have clothes/gear change to whatever youre currently using...

Agreed. The current design is terrible and fundamentally broken. It's a good idea, but in typical SE fashion they implemented it in a way that defeats the entire purpose.

I don't understand why SE is constantly so stubborn with gear and jobs. All they need to do is make it work like the adventurer card portraits. It keeps the appearance/gear/etc. you had at the time you made it. That's it; done. If players want to update it, they will.

Instead we get this clearly untested barely functional system that just results in most people having default portraits because the slightest thing causes it to reset.

We lost the superior beta functionality allegedly to fix this exact issue and they didn't even fix it.

I would rather have no picture at all show up instead of the default one.

This is by far the worst part of the system.

    It NEEDS to be fixed.

Why does changing anything about your gear or your Gearset break the Portrait? It's simple. Instead of relying on any memory of its own it draws from the state of your gear at the moment - the Plate attached to it, the items you have equipped right now, state of dye, etc. It's IMO an example of cutting corners. The system needs to stand up on its own two feet - all Portraits should be similar to the portrait on your Adventurer Plate, which doesn't break no matter what you do outside of its Edit Mode. For that, they need to increase the memory associated it with, and OFC disconnect it from currently equipped gear.

I made a post about this back when they released the beta version of portraits (it had the same issue of linked portraits being unlinked at every little change). The solution I suggested then is still the most sensible one as things stand: just make the "update gearset" button also update the linked portrait. Just make it do the thing that happens when you hit save again on your portrait.

i agree, i hate it. i don't know if it was a bug or not, but earlier today i was trying to edit my portrait bc it wasnt reflecting my gear, but it wouldn't reflect no matter what i did until i changed ALL of my physical range to the same gear... like, come on...
