Playing an expansion as current content has been a lacklustre MMO experience

You need to do a better job of defining what you expect when you say "midcore" content.

For midcore quest you could have anything from questchain similar to artifacts weapon on, to repeatable quest for midcore contents (Dungeons or whatever). that second option could also work in the form of a wonderous tales like journal but it isin't a quest per say at that point. We could also have things similar to those NPC fight in Bojza. Anything that wouldn't revolve around killing 3 npc that deal no damage and die in two 1-2-3 rotations would be fun at this points.

Midcore FATE as you said just get zerged that they don't look that hard. but even if you go here an die like 5 time, unless everyone die you still will easily get the full reward out of it. I give it to you too, they are designed as midcore content.

As for Solo content like POTD and HOH I hardly consider it midcore cause it depend on your class to a point it hard to just pintpoint an exact difficulty. Take HoH for exemple. Doing a solo Run as Warrior is easy and you propably wont wipe unless Trap shinenigan hapen. Go in as an Astro and now it hardcore content. On Crystal, only 1 man managed to do it actually. same things with POTD, there like 14 ish or so people who managed to do an 200 floor astro run, I think we can agree that the difficulty of those content is just hard to pint point overall.

As for exemple in other mmo, GW2 got Fractals and strike missions that go from midcore difficulty to hardcore ones. There some World content that are similar to the Fates you mentioned. WoW also had the Tower quest in Legion and t he Chromie quest, There also the timewrap(I think it called like that) events that let you do older raids Synceds. Those are the ones I can get out of my head rn on similar theme park mmo

A PAY TO PLAY MMO player is telling someone else that a FREE TO PLAY MMO has more to offer. So please, never use WOW for any kind of metric. The fact that WOW STILL hasnt wised up to the "do pvp raid or M plus if not get lost" mentality speaks volumes. The flaws and mistakes in their new expac are rearing their heads less than THREE WEEKS after launch, and the exodus has already started.

Anyone who doesn’t M+, rated PVP, or raid will mostly unsub by the end of the first season. There’s no content for them and 5 of the 7 weekdays have nothing to do. Don’t be surprised when they put wqs back to daily reset and whatnot, signs of massive sub drop already coming.

Eh, I don't get the context from the WoW forums but honestly, this expansion is probably one of the friendliest casual expansions in a long time in WoW. The WoW forums are surprisingly worse than the FFXIV forums when it comes to criticisms and pretty awful takes...

Also there is a lot of cope talking about a WoW "exodus" when the m+ and raiding haven't started yet. There were a bunch of people who no-lifed to cap renown and get geared, but the vast majority of the playerbase isn't going to do that and still have quite a few things to do. Just like the people on the forums here the ones on the WoW forums are not a representation of much of anything.

Was more referring to your comment about an "exodus" when it has no basis. We will see with regards to casual content to keep people entertained as their new crafting system is now a slow burn and will take a long while to fully cap it out and should keep relevant with their new titan matrix system which will be an incentive to keep playing it. There seem to be quite a bit of open world things for renown/gear to keep people who can only play for a bit every so often occupied and leveling alts hasn't been friendlier than it is now since WoD.

All that being said it is a complete guess as to what happens tomorrow or months from now. If they increase their content pace like they say they want to then it could be a very interesting expansion. If they repeat the mistakes of Shadowlands when it comes to content releases then it will probably fail as an expansion again.

Edit: Found the post on the wow forums you were referring to. Was a dude saying he unsubbed which was received about as well as unsubbing posts here are received...

Soulbound components. Dependent on work orders. Alchemy tables laced with RNG that literally explode, leaving the player with a FOUR HOUR COOLDOWN. Note the RNG..so when doing alchemy..the table will blow up again.and again..and again..and again...

Anything and everything to keep them playing..and paying...longer. Those MAU's wont inflate themselves, you know.

Sounds like you hate WoW and should be playing GW2 or something then. I agree the alchemy thing is pretty frustrating and the timer is really dumb on the experimentation. There are items that reset the timer though, not sure how abundant they are.

There is no borrowed power system or forced content in Dragonflight, it is already better in that regards than the previous few expansions. I guess I am really curious as to why you are so focused on bashing the WoW expansion here. I skimmed so I might have missed where it started.

Not at all. I just hated playing in darkness 100% of the time, hated their war on flight, hated their continued lies ( Karabor and Bladespire ring a bell?), hated the fact that anyone who isnt American is a third class customer, hated the fact that their communication with their players was and still is a sick joke.

Lemme explain: back in 2016 Blizzard decided that OCE servers needed to be more "friendly" to Americans so what did they do?

Changed the night day cycle to California time. You read that right, they tied OCE servers to US time ...17 HOURS to be exact. There was a 200 page thread on the matter..its gone now, down the memory hole. Was a waste of time anyway.

So what did we see?

Night time all the time...and in six years, what have they done with all the feedback and pleas to fix it? NOTHING. Silence. Not one word. Theres a new thread on the matter in the DF forums. It will be, like a lot of other things and issues, flat out ignored.

BUT. wait it gets better, then they came up with a toy, and this is how laughable they are, it has a 4 hr duration, wont last through death has a 24 HOUR COOLDOWN and can only be gotten with timewalking badges, whereas the inky black is at the DMF for gold.

Why is anyones guess....and what has happened with repeated calls asking why and asking it to be fixed? Begging to remove the cooldown?

SILENCE.

To add insult to injury? That toy? Was discovered by a player, one of their so called "community managers" couldnt even be bothered to answer 6 years of feedback by letting people know it existed.

They may as well close those OCE forums, no one at Blizzard is listening, no one at Blizzard CARES.

I even sent them a handwritten letter by post, it went the same way as my emails and messages..into oblivion. Sooo...fast forward to 2019, my friend cajoled me into reactivating an acct I made in 2015...she had me log in and wait.

I snarled at her that yeah this was night time, so what. She said calmly "Wait till the sun comes up".

i looked at that blazing, beautiful , GLORIOUS sun, saw azure skies, almost felt the suns warmth, heard the surging promise of Limsa's theme and I literally CRIED...every other game anywhere has a unified night day system, everyone else can do what Blizzard says cant be done..I quit in disgust because all I ever heard was 'we cant do this"..they can, they just WONT.

I did Loremaster , reported on a plethora of bugs and issues. None of them are fixed, all of them are still there. I know. I looked.

WOW claims to have a great art team, I dont know, because the only way I got to see it in daylight was to log in after 2am my time.

So no, I dont hate WOW, I used to love it..but what is there now is a sick travesty. I quit out of pure, unalloyed, total disgust.

The giants who created it are long gone, and it shows.

Sucks that OCE was ignored by blizz, sorry to hear you were affected by that. I'll be honest and say I didn't even realize that there was a day/night schedule that was based on a 24 hour schedule and made it that dark. My work schedule is weird so I play at odd hours and don't really notice it. As for the forums being useless for feedback, that seems to be a common trend as we see it here as well with months to years between any feedback from community managers. I will say on the NA forums the Blizz CMs will occasionally post things and reply to comments which is infinitely more than we get here.

I am pretty casual so renown is probably going to take me a good portion of the expansion to cap and it doesn't bother me. The complaints about gear won't matter after this week with the release of raids and mythics making the gear from rep pretty obsolete quickly if I had to guess. The complaints on the WoW forums about no content to do also seem to stem from the same complaints of no content to do in FFXIV. It's the good old no content I want to do complaint being misconstrued as the game has no content.

I'm glad you found FFXIV and GW2 and that you are thoroughly enjoying them. I am glad that I am having fun playing WoW again after quitting 4 or 5 years ago. Give money to the game you enjoy and not the ones you don't.

The humungous number of live letters we get from the team is FAR in excess of what Blizzard has ever done.
