Thank you tons for the good vibes! I am honestly keeping my fingers crossed that I end up with some good news tomorrow.
An update, as promised!

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the plot of your choice. Since you want to be in a specific area to be near friends, it may not yet be time to play it super safe. If being near friends were my goal, I would immediately bid on a plot near them. Round 2 bidders with many options may be more averse to competing for a regular plot now that the premium plots are taken. I don't think Maduin is going to run out of houses any time soon, so claim an early bid near your friends.
Besides, using a fantasia to change to Lalafell surely brought you good karma.

bahahahaha! I am hoping so! :-D
There certainly seems to be a lot of housing still available. I was saving up the entire time for both a Personal Med and FC large, so affordability isn't really a problem at this point. Just a matter of finding what's still available and going from there. I just don't know how many people might be fighting for whatever mediums might be left? And if it's worth waiting until the last minute to bid this time around if that's the case or if I should just bid right off the bat?
What has worked in your experience? (and anyone elses who reads this post!)
My lottery wins to date have been getting in as soon as possible with the hope others would move on by. But I am a "don't second guess myself" sort of person so I don't have issues locking in choices early. A lot of housing friends I speak to regret placing their bid early as they do get doubts (quite normal and nothing wrong with this btw), and a few threads here over the last few months on "let us withdraw our bids" as well. Well, like this one!I just don't know how many people might be fighting for whatever mediums might be left? And if it's worth waiting until the last minute to bid this time around if that's the case or if I should just bid right off the bat?

Watching the patterns of bids in the first rounds of Materia, Empy and now Maddy/Dynamis where there are a lot of choices, the bids on a specific plot do mostly balance out - Most bid plot on Maddy in round 1 was LB11/41 with 3 bids on all 24 versions, except subdivision 13/41, 14/41, and 15/41 all having 4 bids (from memory) so people were starting at 13 and ticking through very evenly by the end, balancing it out.
Generally the subdivision does seem to get less bids than the main division, I sometimes wonder if some people don't know how to move into the subdivision.
If I wasn't a "don't second guess" person, I'd likely wait until the morning of the last day, head into the subdivisions, and choose a B tier medium with zero bids - then log out and not return until it's all over :P
Good luck Sunny!

All that can Happen at anytime, you are not protecting yourself from those things in anyway shape or form. Some people are just that toxic about it. Or (for some of them, perhaps) they could just be bidding on the same one with multiple alts.
But yeah, it baffles me that someone would bid on a plot of a specific size when there are still so many left with 0 bidders. Some people just like to watch the world burn. That reason alone is why I don't tell anyone outside my FC which plot I'm gunning for.
As a side note, I don't wait until the last minute because stuff can happen. Last-minute emergency maintenance, or maybe the power and/or internet went out where someone lives. Then what? Naw, screw that noise. I can at least have some chance rather than have zero chance because of a risky wait.
(And yes, I have had times where I lost power/internet where I live during critical housing moments. That's why I prefer to be safe than sorry. If you want to wait, that's cool. I won't stop you. I just don't consider it the best choice.)
Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
I'm actually curious what ward and neighborhood had people needlessly 50/50 on Maduin, since I didn't actually see it happen anywhere I checked.
I placed my - successful - bid on a Mist, non-subdivision, beachfront small on Sunday night, and then started to nervously check it and the two adjacent smalls every night after when I saw this thread to see if it was going to happen there too. I also wandered around a Shirogane and an Empyreum ward a couple of times to see if everyone was still playing nice (which seems to be Maduin's calling card so far) without seeing any signs of deliberate doubling up - heck even some Mist 5/35's had only one bid and you know how much people want those.
To be fair, I didn't check the Beds nor the Goblet at all, so I'm not sure if things were more chaotic there.
It was in Lavender Beds - there were actually some smalls that had doubling up, too
IF Square Enix actually had auto demolition on, then you would actually have quite a high chance of getting properties since there would be a high turnover weekly. It sucks that on all the wards i'm on, other than my FC ward where i have some active neighbours i made friends with, the rest are just dead. I met one neighbour after like 1 month (I spend a lot of time in the wards). I haven't seen any neighbours in months with many of the houses looking untouched since they were bought.
