I heard him mention this a few times before I stopped watching W2G. Not that any sort of harassment is ever justified but I wonder what prompted the harassment and what was being done. It would be a shame if it was happening simply because she was the wife of a known content creator.
what is there to hide from if you truly stand behind the opinions you express here?
This is my main (should be obvious from how almost every day my avatar is switching what it's wearing). I have no problems posting from it. I have yet to be harassed or had any unpleasant encounter as a result after 4 years. The most that has happened is the occasional player will say they recognize my name from the forums.
I figure if some psycho takes a forum argument into the game and starts harasssing me, it's an opportunity to rid the game of a psycho by reporting the encounter to the GMs. Most players aren't going to risk the ban. You're a lot more likely to get attacked on the subreddit, Twitter, etc. and since I don't post on those things, it won't be a problem for me.
You really love to inflate this whole idea that anyone who disagrees with him would do such a thing.... as if he's saying anything that would legitimately cause someone to go that route. He is a joke, periodt. He brings this on himself. No one respects him. I guarantee no one is interested in seeking out his silly ass in game to harass him.Considering how many people on these forums foam at the mouth and go berserk if they see him post a thread, I can see why Aveyond wouldn't have his main displayed on the forums. Yes, you can just report anyone who contacts you in-game to the GMs, but why bother with that when you can just not give them your main's name and world? I have my main as my displayed character but I don't see what the big deal is if someone doesn't. This just feels like the same kind of nonsense you can find from people on Twitter who say you're a coward if your profile picture isn't a picture of yourself. It's just a reason to disagree with Aveyond on something. It's not dishonest to not share your main character with randoms on the internet. I personally don't want people that I don't know from the forums contacting me in-game, and that has nothing to do with what I say, even if said person contacting me is doing so to tell me that they agree with me. It's pretty ridiculous to expect everyone to be comfortable with having their main listed as their character on the forums, and if you genuinely think that it's dishonest to not do so, you're probably part of the reason people like Aveyond aren't comfortable doing so.
Using the word harassment incorrectly doesn't suddenly change things that aren't harassment into harassment.
If he were to drop the high and mighty bullshit and just talk plainly about -his- own gripes and not repeat himself every patch and LL, people would just leave it be. Talk some sense into him, if you're so tight with him. See what happens around here.
Deveryn, you have no right to claim that someone else is a joke. Your takes are consistently worse than even Aveyond's worst threads (example: your absolutely ridiculous take on posters not showing their main). I don't agree with Aveyond on every opinion he has, but even in his worst posts there's some level of thought there. And no, I didn't say that anyone who disagrees with him would do that, only some people. If anyone was going to be harassed, it's Aveyond because he frequently posts things that aren't popular with the most vocal posters. And if I had to put money on who would do it, you're probably one of them considering that you care about him sharing his main character's name and world so much. That seems a little suspicious. You really love to inflate this whole idea that anyone who disagrees with him would do such a thing.... as if he's saying anything that would legitimately cause someone to go that route. It is very hilarious. They're obsessed with him to the point where it's almost sad at the same time. When Aveyond went MIA for a bit, there were entire threads created just to bait him into interacting.
To these people, being harassed is an impossibility because their hottest takes are about as hot as a tub of ice cream that's been left in the freezer for a week.
Agreed. The only reason I use my main is because I just literally do not care enough about it to make an alt to have as my display character. I still would prefer not to be contacted, but I probably care a lot less than most would.
It does. And that's the point. They can't harass you if you use preventative measures.
Saying that Aveyond has a point or that he gets a lot of undeserved hate is enough to land you in the Aveyond Defender Club, so welcome. We have cookies.

Hahaha, that's priceless. Provoking a reaction is attention-seeking behavior commonly displayed by children. I guess that's the level of pettiness that aveyond has to deal with.
