Pulling mobs is not griefing, the only way it would be griefing is if your intention is to harm the other players in someway. I know that tanks /should/ be the ones pulling, but technically everyone is allowed to pull, the tank's sole responsibility is to keep aggro, so YPYT would be the griefing here.

No, it's not. At no point do the DPS pull in the Hall of the Novice training. The tank always pulls. The most that happens is the DPS switches to an add that is already rushing in to attack the group.

You're the one putting the group at risk by pulling instead of letting the tank do it. You have no clue what the tank's skill level is, how proficient they are at picking up loose mobs, what sort of latency they're dealing with that may cause the game servers to register their attacks on a delay or if they even have their attention on the game at that moment instead of distracted by something else.

It is far safer to leave the tank in control of pulling for the party.

If you want to be dictating the pace set by the group, be the tank.

It's a pretty big leap to assume that someone who had reached level 90 on a tank job knows how to tank considering it's possible to level without stepping foot into group content.

Clearly troll, try not to feed. Letting the tank pull is a common courtesy - and in a way a product of self-preservation instinct! The OP exhibits a severe lack of it xD

Also, we don't do YPYT here, that's WoW stuff. What we DO here is say "oh sorry didn't notice you pulled 2 extra packs, mb, release pls " followed by "/fc what a c*nt!"

If YPYT is actually griefing, report it in-game. Making a forum post about it is a waste of time. All it serves is to stir up arguments because that's all people do here.

Report anyone who does YPYT, and get anyone else present to report them as well. Regardless of what any embarrassing clown is trying to argue in this thread, it's absolutely recognized as griefing by the GMs and people HAVE been banned for it.

As some one who tanks a good 90% of the time anymore, I'm honestly kind of offended by this 'you pull you tank' thing.

and imo, if your tank says this. vote kick them. it's the only way they'll learn it's not acceptable to say and act on. what's the worst they're gonna do? whine on the forums? quite the game?

    oh no ... not that ... /S

I mean, is it grating when the DPS screws off to pull other mobs, cause 'I'm not moving fast enough for them'. absolutely. just cause I CAN wall to wall pull doesn't mean I want to all the time. It's REALLY boring for one, as such i don't really like doing it unless I'm in the mood to.

While DPSing though, I haven't really run into this problem, as ya know, let the tank do it's job and pull the mobs. though in the RARE instances i have seem these people,

I just leave the group, but not before letting the tank know I disapprove, 30 minutes doesn't bother me, cause Youtube and alts. Do i expect my telling them off and leaving to have any effect at all. NOPE! but, again, if you just keep letting them get away with this, they are going to keep doing it.

This is exactly it. This thread is a PSA for people to learn that YPYT is griefing as recongized in the ToS and by GM's. One can argue against it but it doesn't change the fact that it is a reportable offense.

The DPS are more likely to get banned than the tank and I've seen it happen with the tank reporting them for harassment. GM's throw the hammer at everyone so I just never go near the report function.

Its not, and unless the tank says something in chat you literally can't prove it. So good luck lol.

Never heard of a single case of this ever happening, ever. Have, however, heard of multiple cases of petty tanks getting account strikes for griefing their parties.

You see, the real magic of YPYT is that most of the people that participate in it are so incredibly emotionally stunted that they can't help themselves but mald pathetically into the chatbox after trying to wipe the party. Honestly, most of the time they basically write the report themselves .
