When you consider what FFXIV's RP scene has become, a gaggle of groupies silently /beesknees-ing in empty virtual chat rooms this ceases to be surprising. Better to cultivate a personal group of RPers amongst friends of like mind and similar proclivities, I say. That is IF you can find such in this game anymore. Everything I've heard and seen, finding too many dedicated ones who aren't simply ERPers is difficult.

Alot was lost. There was wonderful stories written by players, as well as artwork and more.

It’s disgusting and sad that players now automatically think of ERP or those clubs. Real RP has nothing to do with the above.

I don't need to pretend to be anything or anyone except myself most of RP's in this game are tremendous catfishers who can't stop being horny for a single minute of their playtime.

Yeah. The RP scene is a shell of its former self imo. It's just fueled by greed now since people learned you can make money off selling overpriced drinks & other players. I never see any sort of legit RP on Aether now outside of the mornings when one or two cafes open and it's a chill time there. Otherwise it's just four pages of afking in a club or trying to be convinced to buy a court.

Not gonna argue semantics with you. You play a role in a game. Not just MMO games but even single player. It’s funny you find a word so repulsive.

The ERP is predominant because of most RP going underground because of trolls and those like you. And of course stupid things people do that make it onto forums and social media.

It's predominant because it sells. RP still exists in the game, just it's much less because people would rather do a form of RP that is fun + makes money compared to not. I see most RP going down on Crystal PF compared to other DCs though, which is understandable considering it's the hub of RP in general. Several friends of mine used to be very into non-ERP situations but when the switch came with covid, they haven't been doing a lot with it lately because it's very hard to find long-term partners now/non-ERP partners compared to a couple years ago, even on Discord.
