I mean solutions that aren't just "hide shout chat and get over it" have been posted in the thread, so...
Nightclubs, the new end game. Evolution of FF14.

For better or worse, this game's RP scene has taken off and become something...well, I'm not sure what to call it. I can honestly say that I've never seen anything like it. But if that's what people enjoy, then that's fine. It's just not my cup of tea, not that I've ever really been much of an RPer anyway. Again, not my thing. I just don't take part and I ignore chats/PF listings. It's really that easy.

I find it interesting players complain about nightclub/club/RP venture adverts (and I've seen some very lengthy and using tons of ASCII whatever symbols in them) but no one complaining about the heavy-handed FC adverts that spam one after the other. Hm.Every day in shout chat "COME CHECK OUT OUR CLUB WITH DJ AND GAMBLING AND TOTALLY NOT BROTHEL SERVICES." Constant ads in Party Finder, sometimes the same club being advertised three times.
I get people like these, I really do. It's not my thing, and normally I would ignore it; but every time I log in and even poke my head in one of the main city states, these ads constantly pollute shout chat and party finder. Blacklisting is only a band-aid fix because the criers who are hired rotate very quickly. Turning off Shout Chat is also a bandaid because one should not be forced to turn off an in game function that can be incredibly helpful in many situations (shout calling for a Rez is one such thing.)
Don't get me started on how some clubs are openly advertising gambling, or some openly offering ERP through 'escorts' and 'dancers'.
Again, not shaming the people who go to these, that's entirely on them: I just want them to tone back just a bit and not flagrantly skirt the TOS. And maybe not have more than one ad in Party Finder?
But you need to ask yourself, is the issue the advert spam or what is being advertised?

I don't mind that they advertise and whatnot...I just wish they would be open and up front what their night club is...
and it's always a group of people doing Bee's Knees in silence. It's super awkward. Been to about 10 now and try to talk with people but they just AFK and Bee's Knees...or in tells.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
A detriment of what? I think you are being dramatic. How is me calmly voicing my frustrations in an area where SE is more likely to see it than reddit anything but acting like an adult. The night clubs are clogging both shout chat and party finder with their obnoxious ads and its actively become a detriment to the play experience.
Spot on. Been to one once and its like I entered the universe of catgirl npcs doing bee’s knees, rather funny.I don't mind that they advertise and whatnot...I just wish they would be open and up front what their night club is...

They probably played “guess who’s the real girl in all this” hahaha

As much as I am not a Nightclub or RP person, I don't care if people are advertising their venues/activities as long as it stays in the "Other" section of Party Finder.
If they end up in any other Party Finder section, that is where I have a problem and will draw the line there.

I'm not fond of those either. They're just as bad, but at least to me, they haven't been as prelevant or obnoxious. For every 1 FC announcement, there's 10 Nightclubs.I find it interesting players complain about nightclub/club/RP venture adverts (and I've seen some very lengthy and using tons of ASCII whatever symbols in them) but no one complaining about the heavy-handed FC adverts that spam one after the other. I am a player who likes to actually roleplay. Pretend to be my character in the universe of the game. Not everyone does this, but I and many other people do. Venues that promote this type of roleplay are much harder to find because of the PF Spam.
And as I said, if a nightclub posts an add right as, say, someone posts an S-Rank Hunt Shout and I've got my chat window shrunk down or I'm not looking at the screen, I could very well miss that. A hypothetical but it can happen.
Boring. The word you're looking for is "boring".
I like roleplaying online, I like writing stories and acting out a character with other people. I've worked at a venue in FF14 and we tried hard to keep that engagement going with the people who visited. When I went to these nightclubs, there barely was any interaction other than the bare minimum, and people would just stand there, letting their characters loop /beesknees. That for me isn't roleplaying. There's just barebones interactivity. We're in a game with so much good lore, with so much stuff you can pick up on and interpret, expand upon, and you just stand there? I really do fail to see the appeal of it, at least so far as how people keep being labelling it as "roleplaying". Sure, what you do is your business, so if you're into that, props for you. But these spaces are so dominant and widespread that I wonder why people aren't doing more with them.
