Same as the opposite, really. Dont know either way. I do know that the people who post here arent representative of anything and as for Aveyond, someone who says the current game is worse than 1.0 cant be taken seriously.

So you're saying that the ones who praise the devs, the ones who love Endwalker and the ones who say this game is great aren't representative of anything either? By that logic the FF14 subreddit, all the comments on twitter, youtube and twitch and the forums shouldn't be taken seriously because they're not representative of anything.

There aren't "millions" on either side, but the reception for EW in general has been overwhelmingly positive. Polls consistently place it as the 2nd favorite expansion (with ShB being #1), and I always find it amusing how people claim this forum is the "only" place on the internet people can be negative about the game, and how there are apparently all of these other myriad sites and fanpages out there that spout endless praise and push any criticism away...and yet somehow, those few here being endlessly negative about the game must magically be the majority? That takes some impressive mental gymnastics.

Case in point, EW not only started with the highest playerbase ever, but even its late-patch "troughs" still retained the highest active playerbase compared to similar "troughs" in past expansions. The simple reality is that EW is viewed in general by the playerbase as a huge success. It's okay for individuals to not like it, but to act as if that opinion somehow represents everyone is deeply flawed.

If you played in ARR you’d know ARR pulled it back from the brink but it was the fact that HW was actually memorable that propelled the game forward, if HW was just a little bit more ARR then the game would have faded away years ago

Thats true, but saying that HW solely carried FFXIV is disingenuous at best. The game kept getting better per expansion, it wasnt just HW being good. Take off the nostalgia goggles, HW isnt all thats cracked up to be (on its own at least)

I personally agree- it was a fun, albeit short-lived fun, little detour from normal game play but ultimately - lackluster. Once you finish the grind & get the very few rewards worth obtaining - there is not really much left in islands to care about.

I also think the resources would have been much better utilized adding more housing, which people have been begging for for ages rather islands.

Pretend? It's right there to see. Out of every place I've been the forums are easily the most negative place. Everywhere else IS mostly postive.
