FFXIV is best in everything else to me, but I enjoyed GW2 a lot.

I don't know how it is nowadays, I only played up to the 1st expansion, but I can attest to this... You can go literally in any area and farm some kind of useful thing even at max. level.

Also, I don't know how I would rate it nowadays, but back then I absolutely loved the chaotic more action combat from GW2.

The worst for that game to me, to be honest, is how plastic-look the character models are, and also that the coolest armor sets came in the form of a 1-piece costume (even though fully dyeable) - no wonder why I loathe the 1-piece-sets they release from Mogstation here.

Path of Fire (2nd expansion) added mounts for platforming, and a 2nd set of elite specializations and raids. Also the open world there isn't as vicious as it was in Heart of Thorns (Jungle Raptors...JUNGLE RAPTORS! D: ).

I personally like voice acting to this extent, and you can your character will even actively talk while using abilities, for example. There's definitely unique lines based on your class, from what I can tell.
Female Norn gets a lot of hate but she's voiced by Claudia Christian, who's a screen actress and not just a VA. Did some work in WoW and Skyrim (Aela the Huntress).

I recognized her immediately. Had to look it up to be sure.

Another con of XIV is leveling. I tend to simply level other jobs on other characters because the main story is the best source exp. Leveling multiple jobs in XIV is terrible compared to XI were I could level one job to max in about an hour and a half with minimal distractions during exp campaigns (Which are frequent).

In MMO like GW2, it is easier to lvl because you don't have to babysit other classes on your characters. You are limited to simply one class. Granted, I am not done with XIV's story, so maybe there are other exp cheat codes I am unaware of. So there is that.....Leveling is just so fast in XI, that XIV feels like s serious grind which is crazy because XI is the most $hit grindy mmo out there.....GW2 lvls slowly, but it is manageable being restricted to one class.

Both great games and can easily play both, I do.

The open world in GW2 is unmatched, the mounts are fantastic and the community is very nice on the whole as well.
PvP is quite enjoyable too, I do a lot of WvW.
You can take long breaks and your gear is still relevant also which is nice.
Also no sub to worry about.

Defo recommend giving it a go!

Frankly, this is one of FFXIVs Boons in my opinion, having the Ability to be more then one class. I like not having to make a completely new character, and having to go through the same Story Progression to be able to play more then one job. Now, Ill agree and I wish leveling could be faster, probly the best idea I can give is just Focus on 1 Job a week, and if you are doing tribal Quests, they give an extra daily Boost in EXP. And of course do your weekly Challenge Log.
And as you go Armory Bonus Kicks in giving more exp.

I think Doing my Dalies, challenge log, and tribal quests, I can fully level a job in 4 or 5 days. And I get a crapton of Gil in the Process.
Leveling, Allience raid, MSQ, Trial, and Normal Raid. You get some darn good exp

I agree - I far prefer having all of my jobs on one character vs. having multiple characters with one job each. But I know some people really love alts, so hey, to each their own. I started in XI, and so my first MMO experience was with the all-jobs-on-one model, and I'm a creature of habit, so that's probably why it's my fav.

GW2 does make it pretty easy to juggle all the various characters you may end up with. Bank access, your currencies, mounts, achievements, glamours and I'm sure other things I'm missing are all shared between the characters, so it doesn't feel like you're being punished at least. :P

If you like your MMO to have a story, then from personal experience I'd say avoid GW2. The Living World system sabotages the story GW2 attempts to tell you, multiple times over, in an attempt at squeezing money out of you. Think of how your experience of Heavensward would be if you went from Castrum/Prae straight to Ishgard. That's every GW2 expansion if you weren't playing when LW episodes are released and don't buy them (people who play during a window around their release get them for free - imagine that with XIV patches, and it's everything in the patch, not just story.) Combat's decent though (unless you play Daredevil or Deadeye.)
