It needs its casual content, even if it dies out quicker.
Factually incorrect, as shown by Lucky Bancho statistics

Upwards of 23% of active players clear savage on JP Datacenters. That number gradually goes down as you go further west, with Crystal at 1-2% and Aether hitting close to 10%. Mind that is only actual clears + have the mount, and does not reflect people who only do one or two floors, or people who have cleared the whole thing but not gotten a mount yet.

It's boring. I like the visuals of the island, but I don't like how the mammets - which were forced upon me - just passive aggressively exploit the island while saying I'm the one who's deciding it.

The workshops and other facilities are ugly. If we at least could customize them like with housing. The mammets are annoying.

Tataru said I get an island to casually relax and instead I'm just working, working, working and getting yelled at by little robots.

The mammets act as if I am the one who wants to get rid of the beautiful vegetation just to build another ugly facility, but it's actually them who are forcing me to do so.
The facilities don't feel like they are mine, but belong to the mammets. Whenever I'm entering them it feels like I'm a guest.

The gathering is boring and tedious. The animation is slow and it's so noticeable how long it takes to summon your mount every time.
And you have to tediously switch between modes all the time.

I can't even really enjoy the scenery because it's always just night or raining anyway.

And the market stuff where you need to watch what's in demand is the most boring and convoluted thing ever.
The only thing that's worse about the Island Sanctuary is that weird manual. Can't even quickly look something up after unlocking a new feature because you have to read through 5 paragraphs of unfunny flavor text first.

This sounded like I really hate the Island Sanctuary, didn't it? Well, it's cute casual content and it definitely has potential, I like that. But everything is just so typically clunky again. And it's just way too monotonous. You can't really decide anything meaningful aside from on which predetermined plot you place which facility.

I have only had limited time to touch on island sanctuary, but it's been kind of a boring grind. It isn't helped by the fact that having to constantly switch modes is a pain (guessing this is due to 1.0 spaghetti code for an engine?). I haven't bothered to look much into the rewards, but it seems to just be some outfits and a mount or something? Seems like a lot of wasted time for little payoff.

Right now, to me, it looks to just be a more grindy and less rewarding version of mog garden from FFXI.

Like, I can see an interesting system there, but the execution of it is just off.

    Island Snore

Ok, so I went looking for the hairstyles, got one and was immediately disappointed as it's just a silly looking ponytail, not even going to bother trying for the other one. The rest of the experience is grind, grind, grind, for almost no reward.

About to demolish all of it and allow it to return to its pristine beauty prior to my intrusion.

Instanced housing could have been a reality with the resources poured into the Island.

    I'm a bit confused. Is it 23% or 2%?

You can't use the highest number on a single JP datacenter to say that's the average of the whole playerbase, I don't think. If you average across all datacenters (so we're talking about the entire playerbase), wouldn't it be 10-15%? Did the Lucky Bancho statistics have an overall average? Otherwise we could calculate it manually taking each percent, weighting it by the number of players on that datacenter. But ballparking it, I think 10-15% is probably pretty accurate if some datacenters are as low as 1-2%. The average would be significantly less than 20% overall.

10-15% doing savage means 90-85% not doing Savage, which would make DixieBellOCE factually CORRECT, would it not?

We'd have to run the math to be sure, but if the highest performer is 23% and the lowest is 1%, it stands to reason the average is likely to be SOMEWHERE in between them, and probably most likely around the midpoint between them (which would be about 13%)

EDIT: And I should note, even if we ignore reality and assume all servers are at 23%, that would mean 77% of the playerbase still isn't doing it. While you can argue that's full clears, P4S wasn't as tightly tuned as P8S and has been out for a bit now so people doing it (when the stats were released) had time to gear up a bit. While some more people will undoubtedly clear it over time, that probably is a decent capture rate for the hardcore savage community.

You mention some people just doing a few fights (like I did P1S and P2S but have no static and didn't want to PF P3S), but said people like me would be regarded as mid-core at best, and tend to do lots of content besides Savage raiding (before P1S, I'd literally never stepped into a Savage fight that was current before)

So 15% is probably a good ballpark for the clear rate, and maybe 20-25% overall for participation rate, but this still means that casuals and casual content outnumbers even mid-core Savage dabbling something like 3:1.

And that's before we even get into Ultimate, which is probably close to 5%.

I'd wager more people would enjoy housing than I enjoy island mammetville.

Our islands share the housing instance servers, so I think it would only make sense to combine the two now. House on the island. Bam, instanced housing. Problem solved.

No I don't. Once the grind is over and the island is on auto control, the island becomes a place of beauty and wonder. I'd rather spend time in the island than look at strangers standing around in Limsa doing nothing. Why can't they at least dance? They will add more features and zones for us to grind first then enjoy and I am waiting for it with anticipation.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed.
Everytime I go to my island its dark and stays dark until I leave.
It really got in the way of enjoying the place...

Unlocked Island "Sanctuary" 4 days ago and got to rank 5 on that same day. It's the most mind numbingly boring nonsense this game has ever seen. Lord of Verminion has more depth than Island "Sanctuary".

As others have mentioned dozens of times; mammets making snide and condescending remarks annoy me to no end, the snappy text "clear all the trees!!!!" "shred these shrubs to the ground!!!" when you go to clear out a zone also annoys the hell out of me and totally screams Sanctuary, it's a glorified clicker game, there's barely anything to do past the first 4 days, there's barely a reason to even go into the island as it has extreme levels of automation, you're more likely to get carpal tunnel gathering things in Island "Sanctuary" than you are doing the Astrologian opener.

I completely ignore the supply/demand-excel-spreadsheet-deskjob-simulator and queue up whatever the hells I have the mats for. I absolutely do not care about flooding the market with the same crap as I still get plenty of cowries. I just want to get out of that place as soon as I can so I can go back to doing something else that isn't running around for an hour and clicking sparkling rocks and shrubs. Who greenlit this gods awful idea?
