I would really love to see BST introduced as a regular job like any other inspired by Rinoa from Dissidia NT, where you have a specific pet that's used as an extension of your combos rather as an AI unit that fights alongside you. I've brought this up before on this thread in the past but I'll post the video again because I think it would be a really unique way of adapting the BST job to FFXIV without having to be a shitty limited job. Note that Rinoa has a mage stance, but I'm just thinking of her gameplay while using Angelo in the first half of this example:

This is really cool, though it would also fit a DPS phase for like WHM pretty well.

I do think we’re getting to 1 job per expansion soon if not the next one. It would be a good time to adjust other jobs too. While people here say they’d be happy without any new jobs to work in existing, many players porobably wouldn’t be, especially since new jobs are a huge driver to get people to try out the game. 1 new job is a good balance though.

I feel, if you cant release BST as a pet class, then don't do it at all. BLU displays that bad things happen when you try to reinvent the wheel.

Your older brother gave you the FF MMO Blueprint to implement pet classes......How were they able to do a good job with BST & SMN in the early 2000s, but we cant seem to fathom how to implement it in 2022? Poor development; laziness.

Seeing some of the activity here, and after putting some thought on my original ideas, I still stick to some of what I said in the past. For one, I think we'd likely get a caster definitely, but also either a scouting or a ranged job, but I'm still leaning towards scouting, since we got dancer fairly recently.

As for what some of the ideas for jobs are, they're as follows:

Caster: Either Geomancer, or maybe even Seer. Undoubtedly Geomancer to me would be a bit more interesting since we can perhaps start playing with the idea of a more melee-focused mage. Whether they pull from the bell or gauntlet user or even introduce something like an eastern rosary, it would be nice to see it use a phase of non-aspected magicks, and use its resources to aspect to wind, water and earth by using geomantic invocations, perhaps even becoming mid or long range at that point for a while. (although I'd still be fine with a fully melee one with maybe some interesting AoEs). As for the Seer, I just see it as an interesting alternative to follow Krile more, as well as update her costume into the Seer's white and pink outfit.

Scouting: I'm sticking pretty firmly with the idea of a whip user scouting class, in the form of Puppetmaster, where we'd see it use the whip to get up close and smack the enemy and jump back to summon a mammet to fight in its stead, then using the whip at mid-range at that point while the mammet takes the front. It's an interesting spin on both machinist and red mage.

Healing: Chemist is obviously one that's in everyone's mind, but personally, I'd like to see it where you had buttons like the jutsu signs of the Ninja, except this time, it's ingredients. I'd like to see something between 4~6 ingredients, maybe the 2 last ones come at a later time, and combined they can create damaging or healing effects, single or AoE effects, and perhaps some buffs like shield or regen, and depending on how you combine them, you can then use the Throw command to throw the resulting potion at either your allies or the enemies. Aside from that, I'd also like to see Oracle, using an ink brush to inscribe signets and use "Ying Yang" magic to apply both buffs and debuffs at the same time, but that's more of a raw idea that currently doesn't fit as much the xiv meta.

Ranged: I'd like to see Musketeer perhaps, albeit double pistols don't seem feasible with the current model of how weapons work in XIV, but we do already have the guild in Limsa. :P Might as well make use of it.

Tank: I'd like to maybe see Cannoneer, where they focus on shooting enemies up-close with explosives, and have some AoE casting phases with cannon balls, or perhaps even turning their cannon into some kind of flail. (Or have it where it's a magitek hammer like Nero, and have it blast explosives from its barrel from time to time.)

Lastly, I also like the idea of Mime being a min-maxing limited job where it's essentially your "amaro mount reward" but better, for leveling up all the jobs to max, to gain their skills in a singular job that you can mix and match skills and do funny things in duties. Essentially the Mime would get skills as you level other jobs, rather than on its own, and those skills you gained would all be able to be set up in the Mime's kit, for them to do challenge modes much like the Blue Mage. So say you get x skill in white mage at level 30, you'd have to be a level 30 mime and level 30 white mage to get that skill. But the end goal would be to have most, if not all skills from all jobs to just try out whacky builds on a limited mode of play.

You say that we got Dancer fairly recently but Reaper is a lot more recent. I highly doubt that SE will make a 6th melee at this point in time.

A ranged with a Caster seems the most probable combination will we get. Simply because SGE is just out, so no healer. No tank, Square Enix said a while ago that they don't want to add more for now because they don't know how to balance them.

    Now into your idea.

I highly doubt that Geomancer will be a thing. YoshiP said that he want "original" class. and Geomancer will not be original in the current set. Water Wind and Earth are used by the Conjurer (Which evolve into WHM after lvl 30) and will be quite redondant. A Seer might be something else and maybe worth to dive into it since i don't know any MMO having something remotely close to that.

For the Scouting part. Even if I doubt that we will have a new melee anytime soon, we still have the stuff from the ninja to share. Which ultimately guides us towards a "Dexterity" based job. A puppet master can be a thing, even if I tend more on a double-blade class, aka Zidane from FF9 (Or a Cao Pi from DW8).

On healers, nothing to say, you came up with some great idea, and having a "Physical" healer can be quite knew (Because potion aren't magical !)

For the ranged, you mean Corsair, not Musketeer. In the past, it was prepared for that but was discarded as the Machinist come up to the scene. Sadly, there is very little chance that we see anything like soon.

And on Tank, Ok that's completely new, but not really logical. I've seen in a really old MMO something using a cannon to attack from a distance, but he was squishy as hell. Cannon are meant to be used from a distance not from Melee Range and don't have any mobility. If you were to add the cannon onto a weapon, this will be like a sibling to gunbreaker which got a Gunblade (So that's basically the same things)

I've been taking scouting more as its own thing, not as "one more melee" since reaper was very much added for being a second maiming job. As for the other jobs, they are more far-distance ideas, as I still believe the first to come will be a caster and a scouting job. The others wouldn't come anytime soon and are just far-off ideas. And yes, corsairs actually became musketeers as far as I understand it in lore after pirates became more of a thing of the past. As for Yoshi-P wanting more unique jobs, sure. But Geomancers have been slowly established in the lore ever since stormblood, I don't see why not do them when most of the fandom wants it. I'm basing most of my logic on patterns, really. Also for the most part I'm not just pulling from FF lore for ideas, but I'm also just thinking beyond "the devs said this or that" and just trying to come up with interesting, albeit fitting to our current mechanics, ideas since they also often say "they're running out of ideas for jobs". Which is kind of silly to begin with.

Also I suppose something I was remiss to mention is that I think cannoneer would be a cool Job to experiment with that hammer Nero has, for instance. Having a hammer that can blast explosives, rather than an actual cannon.
