Sorry to those who got a taste of Diamond last season because SE doesn't know how to make a proper ranked ladder, but typically the only people to get that high are the top 5-10%, the people who have played 1000s of hours of similar PvP games. (It's not really a badge of honor, but tryhards be trying REALLY hard is all I'm saying.) And yet, some people who have never played a ranked PvP game in their life are they're expecting to get to Plat+ in a week... and like, that's just not how it works.
I'm really not trying to be insulting or elitist here. Just trying to address the false expectations that SE created in the first season. Everyone has to start somewhere, and naturally they're gonna be confused about what good or bad players even look like. So I don't even blame people for being frustrated at their teammates, or looking at damage-dealt/deaths as the only important metrics on the scoreboard. My advice? Just keep playing, try to learn something every match, and focus more on the overall pace of the match rather than individual kills or standing on the crystal 100% of the time (there's a good time for each of those, but it isn't ALL the time.) And watch out for who has LB ready.
Despite trying to be reasonable up to this point, I'm not a saint. So I admit, I am also laughing at the entitled and whiny people who come onto public forums and post every excuse imaginable for why they can't climb, and call the game mode dead in the first week, rather than facing the simple fact they they aren't good at the gamemode (despite playing it for a whopping 40 hours, wow, such dedication). The lack of awareness is astonishing.
