One of the things I like about the Scions is that they often do not subscribe to traditional tropes that can sometimes appear in JRPGS. Like with the twins, having the boy be more a healer who stays back and uses their intelligence, and the girl who is more hot-headed and edger to get into the frontlines of battle. The hard hitting monk who can break Zeno’s mask in half also being a slight ditsy airhead, at least at the start. Its one of the reasons why in ARR+ I was not keen on Thancred and his ‘Oh look he is a womanizer’ motif, but he became one of my favourites Scions after Shadowbringer and what they did with him and Ryne.

Thats not to say I would not like a more ‘traditionally’ masculine character (Especially if he is buff and walks around shirtless…) but I do not think it is something new character must embodie.

Red Oni, Blue Oni is a very common trope in all kind of japanese (and non-japanese) media. The Leveilleur twins are like the most basic implementation possible of the trope, even down to the color scheme. They both fit every single of the most common traits.
Not saying that tropes are bad, but it's a stretch to say that the main cast of FFXIV is unique in that regard.
