Can you just admit you never looked beyond surface level heresay and never wanted to bother to do even the smallest amount of research beyond that? You messed up, you're angry that the already severely limited in-game housing wasn't as simple as "making the FC and just getting a house 4head", and never wondered to yourself why, if it was so "simple", that why isn't everyone doing this. Makes for a malding spectacle, for sure.

Of course I wondered that, I assumed most people would not want to abandon their own FC community just to buy their own house and tht alone was sufficient motivation for most people to not bother. Even still I suspected the possibility that there was some other catch I had not forseen, but I still hoped there wasn't, only to be learn the hard way the actual truth. Something nobody bothered to say.

The NPC with the housing purchase information isn't a random NPC you're expected to figure out on your own. Every single quest you have to do to unlock access to a housing district will tell you to visit the Resident Caretaker to get more information about housing and how to purchase. Even if you had done the rest years ago, you could only have done the Empyreum quest this expansion. If you were planning to get a house, you should have done as the quest suggested and talked to the Resident Caretaker at that time.

The information was also included in the housing announcement posted at the end of March about the addition of Empyreum and the lottery. You've been in here a few times in the past complaining that players aren't being given information just to get referred to that announcement. I guess it was too much to expect you would have thought to check there for information.

Or you could have asked here for information once you made your decision since it was our advice to start your own FC that you decided to use.

Buy only HQ endgame gear (Exarchic and Neo-Ishgardian are fairly cheap) off the marketboard since HQ generates twice the Company Credits toward your FC rank. If you had done this back in April, it probably would have cost about 300k gil. Now I can't say because there are a lot more people creating shell FCs and some of them are using Data Center Travel to find bargains.

If you don't want to spend any gil, grind through EW dungeons using Duty Support to get gear to turn in. Not certain off the top of my head just how many Company Credits the dungeon gear will generate but you'll probably need about 100 items. It's better to sit at your personal GC (if that is different from your FC's GC) to turn them in after each run so you get fewer loot error messages for already having the item in inventory.
