I realize the immersion ship sailed ages ago for XIV, but I really hope that any future MMO SE creates really focuses on world building, and creates things that fit within that world. IMO, XIV has too many crossovers and way, way, WAY too much fanservice. Yes, there are staples within the FF franchise that always crop up in the various games, but at this point it feels cheap.
XI the least played Final Fantasy game, and the one that got to be a main sequence number by chance and luck, which is the only reason it's still maintained, and will be as long as Square Enix is an independent game developer.

Nothing in 14 breaks immersion, as the setting has Space Ships and Computers. Modern Fashion has always been a part of the setting.

Have you seen female Miqo'te starter clothing. It's club wear from the 80s. 14 has always had modern fashion as a part of the setting, you face off against space ships and mechs rather quickly in the story. We literally collect Cell Phones to use as currency for old tier sets. And use bluetooth ear pods for global chat.

It's also very expensive - I remember back on the mog station we could buy individual pieces but they changed it to get more money

It removes Miqo'te ears so I know hroth & viera sure as heck can't use it- but why would they, the ballcaps in ffxiv look gross but again, I detest all modern-like glams
I like modern glams myself, but the jewelry is really excessive on this set. If it was just the sports bra, and the bottoms were a little more plain, it could work in a lot of looks. This one is just like boomer wear from the 90's.

Yeah, the miqo'te ears being removed really sucks. Honestly though, I don't think I'd use that hat to begin with.

No Boomer wore cargo pants, and club wear in the 90s. That was X-Gen fashion. Do not ignore the X-Gen or we will get a mosh pit up in here.

I don't know what fashion is like in Japan, but these outfits (not from the video, mind you) remind of "The World Ends With You". I just got the feeling that these things were fashionable in Japan at some point from playing that game for a little while.

probably, chola fashion was, while not popular in mainstream us, at least able to be commodified bc it had a pretty marketable, distinct aesthetic

It reminds me of Club Wear at the Industrial Mosh Pits of the 90s, which took a lot of inspiration from West Coast Hispanic Fashion.

to be fair, chola fashion is pretty ubiquitous. i'm just reminded of the bling of the bronx with this fit, XD. West coast cholas had the earrings but east coast puerto ricans had the bling, y'know? then again, i'm a bit biased, being puerto rican and from the east coast scene

My thoughts on the attire is that people are going to pay a lot of money to look like everyone else. It's their money though so if they enjoy it then that's all that matters.

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
