On Materia everything is expensive one of the drawbacks of being there at the moment. There are only 5 servers so not a lot of competition. Doesn't appear DC travel will affect Materia at all so that won't be changing anytime soon. SE did keep the NEW status so that'll help with additional people transferring into the DC.
Yeah, this is part of the reason I haven't bothered. Housing was supposed to be something that made me level up my crafters and stuff, but I still haven't. I don't really want to buy too many of them even if it was cheap though, I need that reason to level my crafters.
