Nope, the 500 series kept the same Fermi architecture as the 400 series but there are a lot of differences, I realise a lot of people don't find this as interesting as I do so I'll keep this brief but the changes were as follows:

GPU clock upgrade from 675MHz to 820MHz
Number of stream processors increased from 336 to 384
Tesselation units increased from 7 to 8
Texture units from 56 to 64
Memory clock increase from 900Mhz to 1GHz leading to memory bandwidth increase
Memory bandwidth increased from 115GB/s to 128GB/s

Also worth noting is the 560ti draws 20 more watts than the 460. I could compare the 460 to the 560 non ti edition but that was actually a revision of the 560ti with one less functional core to save on manufacturing costs. The non ti 560 is still clocked higher than the 460 and still outperforms it - Nvidia would not release a new GPU series with only an advantage in power management, it's suicidal in todays graphics market.

When AMD released their latest line they have managed to reduce power consumption massively but they did so through reducing fabrication to a 25nm process, they still made faster, more powerful GPUs, it's too competitive at the moment for either company to release cards that don't advance performance in some way.

I haven't seen anyone mention yet but this game isn't exactly a good example to go off of for performance. Maybe after v2.0, I don't know for sure, but the games engine right now is very unstable and not efficient as far as perfromance. Example, I am currently running a sandy bridge i7 overclocked at 4.5ghz on all 4 cores, 8gb 1866mhz ram with 2 geforce 580gtx cards in sli. @1920x1080, standard drawing quality with high textures, mouse curser on AO DoF off, I get anywhere from 30-60fps (60 outside, drops to 30 on occasion in a crowded area of uldah).

Certainly learn something new everyday .

Yeah your computer looks like it's a lot better than mine, but performance wise it sounds like it's about the same. Hopefully 2.0 will bring much better optimization of this game.

See you guys are going way off topic. Has nothing to do with other PCs specs because they are all up to par. I was simply asking how that specific card ran. If you absolutely want to know my spec hell Ill give em to you.

    AMD Athlon II X2- 2.7ghz
    6144 Ram
    1gb PNY XLR8 9800 GT
Most settings are standard with 4xMSAA, no ambient occlusion or anything of that sort except physics on.

My bro has a 2.4 processor and lower specs overall but runs a GTX 460 and his game handles at a better performance than mine.

Just a tip for people trying to get the most out of this game, change the shadow quality down a notch or 2 from high shadows. The way this game projects Shadows and awful and is a total resource hog.

    I got a 560 Ti.
Ambient Occlusion and Depth of Field still lag too much (seriously SE, what's this supposed to run on?) but everything else is fantastic.

Ambient Occlusion is broken with this client it offers nothing, so don't even bother turning it on. Depth of Field I would turn on or off depending on personal preference. I leave mine off because I think the game looks nicer.

If anyone wants to know what I'm running, here it is:
    Video Settings
    Display Mode Full Screen
    Window Size 1920x1080
    Multisampling 4x MSAA
    General Drawing Quality 9 (high)
    Background Drawing Quality 5 (High)
    Shadow Standard

    Texture Quality High
    Texture Filter Highest

    My pc:
    i7 950 @3.52ghz
    12gb ram
    120gb ssd
    Amd 5870 1gb
    Windows 7 home.

I currently run the game around high 40-60 fps mostly in the 50 range and sometimes a constant 60 depending on how many people in one area. Very smooth.

If you turn General Drawing Quality down to 8 the game should run even better and still look really good.

I showed you how the card ran with images of FPS :s. I spent a lot of time making that post... You're welcome... >_>

    3core amd 2.60ghz

    450gts

    Background Drawing Quality 3 (Standard
    Shadow Standard
    Texture Quality high
    Texture Filtering highest
    Depth of field on
    Ambient Occlusion off

i have all the setting on in the game also put my fps to 30 and get anything from 25-30fps outside little lower inside the city and for some dumb reason when there a holiday the tree in ul'dah if i get close my temp and fps lowers but i think we talk about that before on here.

My gf have a 3870 with the same setting the only diff is no DOF and she have shadows and everything turn off inside play a little better then mine sometime also she have a 4core but i don't think that make much of a big diff.
