I try my best to stay serious, but this was funny. Actually, i laughed my ass offAntecedent Doblyn King
This'd be an instanced fight in a small circular room, accessed from an Aetherial Node that appears in Ul'dah
- Lost in Translation: All text during the first 1/4 of the fight is in Japanese, unless all party members are wearing a subligar.
- Flavor of the month: Can only take damage from 1 of the 3 types of damage (Ranged, Melee, or Magic). Completely immune to the other 2 forms of damage until ability is used again.
- For whom the bell tolls: AoE Doom that hits the entire party. 10 second countdown. To remove the doom effect, a player must hit a bell like the ones we had for the initial Christmas and new years events.
- Materia Cluster Fu-I mean Geyser: AoE damage and knockback. 85% chance to put a random piece of gear to 0% durability. Can be dodged by running out of range.
- Delay Patch: Has a small chance of happening below 10% HP. Antecedent Doblyn King despawns and a message appears in say: "Sorry for the inconvenience" .
- Server Lag: Sometimes players get hit with abilities regardless of if they did what they were supposed to in order to dodge it in time.
Bring Quality Notorious Monsters to FFXIV!

I apologize that dragon is actually midgardsormr! but, he was burnt to a crisp too bad that would have been cool.
Giant Crystal Golem (a.k.a Crystalline Entity) , 3-4 times as tall as a Hyur.
- Earth shatter - AoE crystalline spikes emanate from the ground.
- Temper Tantrum - Small AoE quake damage.
- Aetherial shadows - Spawns multiple shadow bombs, attack random party members which explode if not killed swiftly.
- Curse of ages - Inflicts 1 random status aliment on each party member (Silence, Poison, Blind etc)
- Shrapnel - Inflicts moderate damage to the rear in a cone shape, inflicts stun.

Reading this thread made me realize how stale FFXIV fights are. Pretty much every move boils down to AOE or enfeebling.

I want Absolute Virtue that way this game will really be the true FFXI-clone that we all want it to be.
Sarcasm aside, I want Gilgamesh. I don't need any other FF anything in this game. Just give me Gilgamesh. Not that terrible FFXI pirate either. I want the glorious incarnation from FF5/12/Type-0.
It isn't. The guy makes it look a lot easier than it is, because he's a god. Even so, that fight isn't one of the hardest ones. There are ones like this and this.
Dynamic fights, with enviroments that get torn down. The first one is a two on one battle with a really speedy knight and a really slow powerful giant; the second link is a spider naked lady that spits lava making certain spots unavailable for a while (kind of like ifrit) and spits fire and much more.

Currently playing: Fire Emblem Awakening & Tales of Xillia.
I really don't see anything spectacular in those boss fights, spider was kinda cool, but isn't much different than a normal MMO battle, 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 is not the same as 8 on 1 the dynamics are tuned to specific roles in an mmo, its not good if a spider like that is running around raping your healers.
Maybe some day From software will make an MMO though.
Tera has very active boss fights like that and that's because the battle system is action based, maybe give that a try.
