Ilberd was a hothead that played the Scions (especially Alphinaud lol) for absolute fools. Were it not for his actions, Nanamo wouldn't have been poisoned, Thancred would still be able to use Aether, Y'shtola wouldn't be "blind", Papalymo and Minfilia would still be alive, and the WoL along with Alphi and Tataru wouldn't even have a reason to escape to Ishgard. Also Ala Mhigo and Doma would likely still be under Imperial rule if he hadn't forced the Alliance's hand.

Call him what you want, but the man had a damn successful stint as a villain.
