So you believe, that just because people who are actively developing Mods/Addons that are AGAINST the ToS, are putting work in on it, that SE, should ignore the rules they've set up and just be like, "Ohh thank you!

Good grief, SE should just start using a Anti-Cheat program, that strictly targets any/all 3rd party software, and if not ban them straight out, make them unable to login until they have uninstalled all that mess.

Don't like the UI? Well that's too bad.
Don't like not being able to MOD clothes, and other things into the game? Well that's too bad.
Don't like a company that prohibits the use of 3rd party software, has a ToS that indicates that the use of them is against it, and bans people who get caught? Well that's too bad.
Don't like that the company won't bend over backwards, ignore their own ToS, and grovel at the feet of people who are creating, rule breaking software? Well that's too bad.

We don't need another WoW, we don't need software that tells us where to stand, chat bubbles, modified gear, UI edits, and alike. If you require it, to enjoy yourself, or progress in your static raid team? Well that's too bad.

Nothing you say diminish the effort put in towards a benevolent cause. If you can't appreciate that because of words written on a webpage then you're kinda short sighted. Also, just because Square may or may not add something the community made because it actually does something they wish they had thought of doesn't mean it will be WoW electric boogaloo, that's some serious slippery slope arguments. There are practical reasons to use mods privately, and business related reasons if they improve the game, and showing the hard working players who make them some love is pure benevolence. On the other side, we got some words on a webpage.

Wouldn't giving credit introduce situations where someone might try to claim monetary gains of some sort? Might be a reason not to... Though I do think SE should interact with their community more on an actual discussion level, but maybe costly stressful and doesn't gain as much as just reading feedback and then making lodestone posts and interviews when it is really important to 'respond' (though that approach can feel quite quiet sometimes).

Haven't looked at it before but I'm pretty sure the forums for example void you of all your ideas by posting lol. Akin to what happened for starcraft 2 modding scene, blizzard agreement said they own all the ideas hosted on their platform. Of course you can still sue even when agreements make it sound like you can't- can sue for things you wont win whenever you want (though they may be 'thrown out'), but such a situation would help their case. I imagine this is why some say don't be too specific on feedback or SE will be scared to use it, though I have gone on record saying SE could copy verbatim and I void the right (not that I think they would even if they might, probably more fun to be inspired by feedback than just make exactly what someone else said, that and we'd not have the best balanced or understanding the game's needs and systems / limitations to a deeper bigger picture level). If I spoke more Japanese than a few greetings I might care more as a job opportunity but then I'd probably format my stuff with graphics and presentation in mind haha.. alas I do not so it's not a even remotely likely reality (sounds stupid probably, but a few major players in the industry were from turd posting on the forums . Just do that with quality and in Japanese if that's the goal though.. ).

I think the best credit the modding community, which is technically under the don't ask don't tell / not 'supposed' to be there umbrella, will get for credit is their QoL being introduced into the game. Some of their QoL might be coincidence, like there was the addon that helped you know if you had a minion or not (and SE may have been inspired by it, or they may have just listened to feedback from 8 years ago, or a dev on the team got frustrated themselves), while others might be more obvious "clearly X addon encouraged that". Also considering many of our addons are inspired by WoW's, which is also another point for SE to look at and perhaps safely so compared to using the ones for this game which may or may not have hidden code that could mess with their computers (by that I mean going to WoW's addons and seeing what players have made there, and while there just seeing what other things the game might be doing well, or poorly).

did I say the people making these mods did not "love" the game? nope. however, in all honesty, I do not see the ability to have chat bubbles or nipple rings improve the game any. nor does it improve much when the mods enable cheating. are there "benign" mods, there sure are. are they legal under the current ToS? nope. people who break the rules, even for a good reason, are not typically thanked, thats all I was pointing out. so, a bit of an over reaction on your part I might say.

as some else said, the only thanks and recognition they may get one day is if their mod idea is incorporated into the UI. thats it. it is unrealistic to expect a thank you for breaking the rules.

It's not unheard of for certain game companies to work with the community to implement popular mods into the base game, but for an MMO i'm not sure if it's as simple.

Also, it might be hard for the Dev Team to swallow their pride and admit that some random person did a better job for free than their multi-million dollar company.
