I… would be so bummed out if fishing got taken out of this game. Especially now that I just got into it just because of the achievements alone lol. You can most certainly make money with fishing, if you pay attention to what sells on the market. It’s like the blue mage of gatherers with its own personal content made for those who like it. Not something you need to do unless you just like to have everything leveled.

This is the first time I've ever posted on these forums, purely because this post gave me a visceral reaction.
I own every single fish in the game and have been fishing for years now, and I cannot even fathom that someone would want to take it away from the game. For what purpose? It provides many people with a long-term achievement, and was my main reason for even staying subbed for months and months.
In fact, I hope they make fishing even more hardcore. Add more exclusive mounts and titles to the job, make it so you're rewarded for spending years of your time catching everything that the game has to offer. I hope everyone comes to love fishing, and I'll probably never stop doing it. If they end up removing fishing from the game, I cannot see myself staying subbed for a long period of time.

Seriously what good does it do? 95% of all fish have no purpose and isn't used for anything or anyone. It's only purpose is fodder for Culn. desynth, of which gets you nothing but sand so what is really the point of Culn even being able to desynth in the first place?

Just annoying to do the fishing quests to get bait you'll never use again, to go fish in an area you'll never fish in again, to catch a fish that's entire purpose of being in the game is to be a requirement for a quest.

How about you just remove your character and start over without unlocking fisher so you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Fishing is fun/relaxing/a challenge for a lot of people. Your reason for removing it is dumb. You can just.... not fish....

I'm 6 fish away from the Big Fish title, how dare you suggest taking that away.

Fishing is probably one of the most social things I do with friends. Hangout and fish for some rare-ish decent selling fish and just talk for hours. So aside from the myriad things others have already said.. tack that on. I also wish they expanded or increased the boat fishing instances.

I don't think Fishing should be removed, but definitely could use improvement since it's kind of purely just about RNG to get whatever you need for crafting or quests.

There is also the fact that the generic aethersands (the ones that you can get with any of the three DoL) usually can only be gathered during specific windows for MIN and BTN, but FSH can usually try for the relevant fish at any time of the day.
