I am glad that it is back on,compare to I force myself to play f2p & pay 2 win game, this game is still better

I started reading this thread with the intent of finishing it. I got 4 posts in and the members just started to really depress me. Yes, it needs work, but it is 'still a baby mmo'. Yes, xi came before it, why weren't they more prepared. I blame most of that on Tanaka, and SE trying to get the game to hit China. Maybe also because they tried to create an mmo that had built in non-addictive qualities.
Yoshi-p is working hard to fix it. If you need to play something else while waiting for some of the big changes, go for it, but let's stay positive.
I did say constructive criticism is needed to make this game better, but as other have pointed out, threats and other negativity are just purely bad for the community, so if you are a WoW lover and don't really like XIV, then leave. This isn't WoW. I myself played WoW for about 6 months when the cap was 60 and when it took me about 3 weeks to get to 60 I got so bored so quickly. Yes WoW has 100's of quest and millions of 12 year old kids that don't care about other players. I myself like the community we have in XIV with what seems to be a more mature audience of players. Players seem to respect and want to help others. To all those who think you should be highest rank within 1-3 months, you are just asking to be bored quicker. The game does need more content for mid-level players, along with raising this level cap when PS3 launches.I disagree there AuctionGirl. I actually think negative comments are some of the best when it comes to improving something. Someone telling me that I am doing a good job really doesn't help me with anything, but telling me exactly what they think I am doing wrong is very helpful.
I understand that staying positive can help you enjoy something (I used to have to tell myself to stay positive back when I worked in a warehouse) but this is a game... it should be providing clear enjoyment in exchange for my money, and for a lot of people, it just isn't. While they may be holding back content for a PS3 release, I have to say that holding content seems like a terrible idea given the relatively little content available right now.
I also think that the idea of changing things up really doesn't fly for me. RPGs are generally about improving your character and interacting with the world. I can improve my character by doing levequests, behests, getting new gear, and grinding mobs for EXP. I can interact with the world by completing story quests, sidequests, talking to NPCs, and running around. Of those 8 basic activities, 5 of them have arbitrary caps on when I can do them or how 'repeatable' they are, getting new gear kind of pitters out once you have what you want (it's not like I can grab a group and go run some dungeons for some neat new items), grinding gets old quickly, and running around just lets you notice the copy and paste structure of the world. =/
I know I sound negative and I know this is longer than 99% of people will ever read, but I think your post expresses your opinions clearly and I thought it was worth responding to with my own thoughts.
I have to agree that the Fatigue system should go away, this is ridiculous, SE you could remove this easily and make a lot of players very happy. I know the reason why you added it was to slow down character growth to help you guys get content into the game before everyone caps. Hardcore players don't care about this fatigue, but the average players that get less time to play do. You are limiting players way too much in this aspect. I would rather see SP go a little lower factoring in the fatigue into the equation and remove it altogether.
What I'm saying is, if you don't like the current state of the game, play something else. There is no reason to troll these forums in hate. If you don't like a certain feature, then tell your reasons why you don't like it, what you think they can do to improve it and/or provide as much help as you can. Otherwise you appear to want to make this game fail (maybe you work for the other game companies?).

i am having a lot of fun playing ffxiv right now. i am very casual, maybe 6 hrs/week, and that has help keep this game fresh for me. i know this game is lacking a lot of content but i feel that the gameplay itself is almost done. with the battle system one of the last key things being fixed, they can start focusing on more content. im not saying that they are holding back on content but i think that once they feel like they are done fixing the foundations, they can focus all their attention to end game which i think is what people are yearning for atm

When I got on I just got back to crafting, but a few buddies got on finally and just kicked it off from there. Did some productivity in-game by crafting some gear for them since they were still wearing Day 1 weathered garbage. Afterwards did some group leves and had a great time helping some new players along the road when doing some Drybone leves.
Overall, life seems to be at balance again in which I have work, class, Shogun 2, Bad Company 2, and FFXIV just waiting around the corner.
Edit: Dino D-Day, White Knight Chronicles 2, and Witcher 2 when?

Gosh darn it.

I'm feeling fine except for the fact that I have a cold that is slowly getting worse. Thanks for asking. How are you?
I logged back on and finally did the main storyline quests that I could.. That kept me busy for a few hours.. After that it was back to repeating leves again. I can't bring myself to just kill/grind anymore and I'm really not that into crafting. I have completed every quest available to me at my highest rank (29).. And hitting R30 nets me a whopping TWO more quests..
At this point, it is a waiting game for me. I am waiting for a couple titles to release, and waiting for SE to get their act together with XIV. First one to the finish line wins my business.
In the downtime I made a WoW trial account along with a few LS friends. I had never played another MMO other than FFXI so wanted to see what all the fuss was about and we had a lot of fun.
We still couldn't wait to get back on FFXIV though but now the servers are back up and have been playing FFXIV the last few days it's getting boring really quickly, it just doesn't seem fun anymore. Literally all we are doing is the same 6 leve's (you know the ones) over and over again. Once the leve's are done it's back to crafting but I am ready to throw in the towel with that as it is an unbelievable mind numbing tedious grind. I just dinged R32 on Goldsmith and the thought of how many silver rings and needles I have to make to get to R33 between locals is crazy, I can't even imagine the grind from 49-50 on a craft even in FFXI it didn't take that long to get a level on crafting.
I am beginning to question why I play FFXIV now as there is a lot wrong with it and we have no idea how long it is going to take to fix it. Before the servers went down I played purely in the hope thinking one day everything will get fixed and the time I spend levelling all my classes won't have been wasted and I will be able to jump into whatever content comes.
I hope the big announcement this week can put my fears at ease and that the Companies will give us something fun to do while everything else gets sorted.
Also has anyone noticed less people in their LS or server since they came back up? Our LS has all members accounted for so no losses there but they pretty much are feeling the same way about it just not being fun any more.
When the servers came back up i restarted ffxi.. and its a blast. Its a shame that this game even shares the final fantasy name.

Yea really clever, so basically in a few months when everyone has left "to go play WoW" you will be the only person left.
Telling people to leave is a bit counter productive don't ya think ?
