I'm concerned with the fact that it seems like a lot of people don't realise that they would love this change and they don't do enough to put this thread on the radar. Having people post daily so it stays on the first page is the most important thing.
I've said it before, but I feel like getting this implemented will make the headlines on every gaming news site. It's much bigger than most people assume. Fashion is a huge part of MMO games after all.

Being able to wear the Ishgardian Banneret set on any job would be dope as hell. It has a very strong "knight in shining armor" aesthetic in its color scheme. It's dumb enough that the equivalent set for tanks is basically a recolor with a different ornament on the top of the helmet. The Banneret set doesn't fit RPR aesthetically but it certainly fits PLD because it's all silver armor with blue cloth/trim and gold accents. Meanwhile the Ishgardian Knight's set (tanking armor) is done up in an archetypal "black knight" color scheme, with dark armor plating and red/black cloth throughout, which is way more in line with RPR/WAR/DRK.
Also, I can buy armor on the Mog Station that is virtually identical and use that on any class. I just don't because it's not dyeable and the armor is all white, giving it the appearance of a plastic costume.
Artifact gear? Sure, that's why it should be exclusive. Anything else? Definitely not.
Imagine a RDM in a dress/robe (= a big portion of caster gear). Surely that doesn't sound like the perfect attire to do dashes, backflips and some running around.
People are more concerned with gameplay rather than cosmetics. That's just how it is.
That doesn't really apply to a game like FFXIV where glam is one of the major parts of the game that the vast majority of the players actually do care about (some more than others, for sure). "Glam is the true end-game" didn't come out of thin air.
Also, caring about one thing doesn't automatically mean that you don't care about the other. Sure there are players like that but they're probably not that many. Glam is something that adds to the gameplay for a lot of people because they like their characters looking good.
Mind elaborating on what you mean here by gameplay ? Are things like housing, crafting/gathering, glamour, etc not gameplay ? I'd say they're valuable parts of the game that all have huge amounts of players dedicating their time to.
Not just that, but as Flaws said, do we have to trade cosmetics for "gameplay" and vice-versa ? I don't think what I and many others in this thread suggest is something so insanely hard to implement that we have to sacrifice the next 2 raid tiers for it lol.
in reply to the op they should be doing away with class specific restrictions when it comes to glamour would it really matter if your healing in full plate or tanking in shorts and a tee shirt at this point with the amount of glamours around i see little reason to have any restrictions !!
i will add that they most likely made the class specific gamours as a easy system to complement the actual class armour system instead of class specific armour being allowed to then glam to any class ..
im no programmer but i would guess they would need to change some of the fundamentals of the class specific system so that say a healer can only wear healing gear but said gear has its specific class allocation removed when trying to glam it to other classes .. which might not be easy !!
