Why are newer players more abusive towards mentors?

I've been a mentor for awhile but I take off the crown when the new expansion hit because hey, I'm learning like everyone else is. This time, however, I kept it off when 6.1 hit and there's definitely a difference in how people respond to me giving advice in something.
Also NN on my server at least was a cesspool. I think I was there for a little bit and immediately left. They need some sort of fix to the system.

No, calling people out for being toxic is not "victim blaming", there is no excuse to make toxic generalizations like that.

The crown is not a target and it does not warrant "special treatment". Are you sick? Do you also apply that logic in real life?

The mentor system gives people this feeling that they're better than other players when in fact the majority of MMO players are exceedingly average. It's nothing more than a participation trophy for people that started playing ARR/HW and doesn't reflect skill, not to mention the high profile toxic mentors on Twitch that form part of the long-term FFXIV player base. More often than not, I just see mentors clowning themselves as either bad players that have been around forever or just use their badge for toxic gatekeeping.

The system isn't fit for purpose anymore and should just be removed, the game wouldn't be any worse without it. As for the mount you can get from spamming enough mentor roulettes, make it a cash store item or a reward for finishing the 2.0 ARR MSQ, nobody would care.

If you are on a duty you are correct, that might happen, still you can just register again to the same duty and problem solved. However my post was more directed when you are just chilling on a city, walking on a map, doing your own thing (outside any duty), etc. and randomly someone just tries to get into you just for wearing a crown/title.

They wouldn't be correct tbf it's absolutely reportable to kick someone over an icon/title
