I am so very interested in hearing how you legally purchase Gil for real money in this game. Go on. Give me some links that aren't example to a purported "bank".
Or was that supposed to be sarcasm? irony? You have to do a bit better.
You get a bunch of gil for every job you skip with a jobskip.
You can also pay a real money subscription for additional retainers, which increases your ability to generate passive income.

I mean, if I do wanna be technical here, legal's not really a word to use, and it's not illegal as there's no literal law saying "You can't do this".
But if we say legal as in "will I get in trouble for this or not", considering there are players who straight admit it in game, including one of my ex-fc members who tried to use his rmt and botting flex's to make the fc's crafters do his bidding, Square certainly makes it clear what's actually okay or not when he's not punished for it, despite OPEN ADMISSION

You can buy a level boost. With this you will also get 50x allagan platinum piece:

50x allagan platinum piece is worth 500k gil if you sell them to a merchant. On the market board you could get much more.
And sorry, but this is legal RMT.
Cheers
I was looking more for the WoW Token form of RMT, but I suppose you can kinda squint and call a level boost a 'legal RMT' purchase instead. One could, this expansion, take in 8.5 million gil doing it, at a cost of over $425.
I've used a level boost on an alt and would only consider it to be Gil for Real Money on a technicality, given how quickly it gets spent on gearing alone.
I spent the half-million gil I managed to accumulate through Market Board and quests, back when there was only ARR, to help my FC purchase the mansion at the top of the hill by the waterfalls in Lavendar Beds.
