    SE/XIV and Japanese disasters.

I hate to touch such a sensative topic but my mind won't let some thoughts rest. As my wife stayed up to mourn the disasters that happened a year ago now with the rest of Japan i was already sleeping to wake up early walk Jiro ( Shiba inu ) and head off to work. On the train reading news on Japan statistics and so on there was an article that said.

"Scientist at Tokyo university earthquake research institute recently set odds of a earthquake measuring 7.0 or higher hitting Tokyo in the next four years as high as 70%. The chance of such a disaster occurring within 30 years at 98%. The government has estimated that a magnitude of 7.3 would kill 11,000 people and destroy 850,000 buildings and cause $1 trillion in damage. "

Now that being said Jpn is already in the worst debt possible and since I've been going to Japan ( 11 years now ) I've heard of something like this happening. So the question isn't if but when it does happen what would happen to Jpn and the Japanese industry? What would happen to SE and this game in general? Would it continue to operate?

I have no idea what you're getting at... If you want to know if the game would stay in operation if Square-Enix went out of business...the answer would be no.

I wonder if SE and other companies would survive if such a thing happened.

The potential for 11 thousand people to die.... 850,000 buildings to be destroyed.... 1 trillion dollars of damage to a single country.

And you're worried about your precious recreational time?

    Disgusting.

Would I want to e able to play? Yes. Would I want such a thing to happen? No. I was there for the first one and wouldn't want anyone to go through that.

I'm guessing you've never heard of Greece or Portugal.

Greece and portugal do not have SE. My interest is in the future of the company and their games. I enjoyed most if not all of SE projects and want to continue to enjoy them. Because I am interested in playing this game I'm disgusting? If something happened and you had no interest in SE anymore it would make you a better person? I love Jpn I lived there for a long while, I have family there and friends who are still missing.

    It's not disgusting.
A year ago when I heard what happened my first thought also was "Omg are my favorite authors okay, is SE okay, etc."
A bit later when more facts were known it became "Oh no, all those people.." and I was sad and tried to help what little help I could give from far away.
Still, I was relieved to see my favorite authors twittering they and their families are okay and read that FFXIV will be shut down for a week but will be available again later.
What is wrong with worrying about losing something you enjoy, something which directly affects your own life?
It's not like I can prevent natural disasters from happening.
Wirritosama just tried to pose the question the least emotionally loaded as possible.
