I'm a little miffed there hasn't been any sort of interior "plant shelf" or anything that functions the same as a garden. If they made that AND instanced housing (so multi-floor apartments basically) I'd leave my house so fast.

Lottery is the ONLY system that is fair when there are vastly more people wanting plots than there are plots available. People have real lives to attend to and for many, being available at the opening of a ward is simply not feasible. Yes your chances at getting a particular plot will greatly diminish but they are the SAME chances that exist for everyone. It is fair to all. The only way to move from a lottery system and still allow everyone a fair shot at acquiring a plot is to make the number of available plots outnumber the demand. This may possibly require instancing but it certainly requires that SE ponies up a LOT more resources to accommodate said demand.

Please make it all lottery system... due to people take advantage of skipping work, taking day off and so on and so forth... all need a fair chance and that is about it, a lottery system will provide that when new wards is released for use.

Asking for half to be fcfs is a little much. Maybe 1 or 2 wards at most of Ishgard only. Lottery system is not the best solution, but is definitely better than the current system that benefits those that work from home or have little or no responsibilities (work/family).

"Fair for all" is a loaded phrase and not something you should deploy so carelessly. If it's fair for everyone to have a flat equal chance - why does this not apply to FCs, where a more populous and less risk-averse FC can stack the deck with far more tickets? I pay for two accounts - is it fair for me to be able to disproportionately stack the deck with alts? If it's fair to have an improved chance based on your taste for risk or ability to invest, why isn't it fair to have wards open for people willing to take their chances on simply being faster? What makes anyone's life circumstances more or less of a "real life" than anyone else's? What if you can only play every other week due to obligations, but could participate in a ward opening? Is that more or less fair?
Mind you, I don't say this expecting everyone to fall one way or another - I surmise you'd get a surprising range of answers to some of these questions if you posed them to multiple people. My point is that it's more *equal*, but I don't think that that is guaranteed to equate to fairness for everyone.

Have fun fighting against 100+ people for plots now everyone. c:
I will only say this for people who want lotery only :
there will be tons of wars available at the launch of 6.1, having some first come first serve wards won't hurt a lot all players
my opinion is that full lotery is seriously not the way to go, have at the very least mixed wards with both system separately and everyone will be happy instead of just one portion of playerbase
clearly stop trying to force everyone into your opinion of full lotery because you have "job family responsability etc", if you have a very busy life that fine but don't ruin it for all players who can have time on release day
sure there might be "login issues" but it'll only last for a very short period of time (few hours at worse) as it'll obviously not be like 6.0, so being against that because of login is not a valid argument at all in my opinion
this could be better phased with more proper arguments but english its not my main language at all so i hope that everyone will still understand my message and not take it like a attack or anything like that, i simply want the best for both world (lotery and first come serve) that's all

The only leg I will give this all lottery system is that it will save people from completely missing out on housing because of server related issues. As it was said in this thread already and I can confirm that this is the case, plots will be snapped up in 10m or less on the day Ishgard is released without it. You crash once? Give up, you lost your chance in FCFS.I will only say this for people who want lotery only :

The lottery will stop that from happening at all and might even reduce the amount of server issues we have if thousands of people aren't foaming at the mouth to be the first ones through the gates and break it for everyone else.

Half is lottery and half is for fcfs please !
